Maybe. However, a reconciliation bill cannot be filibustered.

I mean, the guy knows he is speaker of the House right? and that Trump is president, right? And that the Senate is controlled by Republicans as well, right

Johnson is fighting a losing battle here.

Trump is a megalomaniacal wrecking ball who has been plastered across the news every single day for the past year bragging how great everything is going with him at the wheel. Preposterous for anyone to posit that MAGA is not in charge.

This.

Cutting off food assistance, not paying workers and wrecking the White House to build a ballroom is hard to defend.

Cutting off Medicaid and making insurance premiums sky rocket while giving that money to Argentina, Elon Musk, and building your own gestapo aka ICE while illegally sending the military to attack the countries own cities is hard to defend.

So interesting though that both Trump and Johnson have fled DC and are not even trying to take action. Who knows where Thune is.

Lol... very, very few people are "backing" R and D politicians in DC right now. Collectively, they have once again failed the American people and most of us are smart enough to know there are no winners in this outcome. These parties need to be replaced asap. Enough is enough.

This.
Like Cuomo, AFGE is playing by the old rules. Trump voters were very clear that they have no use for the federal government. Time for them to find out what that actually means and then decide if that’s what they really believe.
These shutdowns are incredibly disruptive and stupid. Time for the GOP to understand the consequences.

Dems are to blame for this entire fiasco. This was the same CR that they crafted and voted for previously. No good reason to shut the government down and they look petty and elitest.

Yes please open the govt no more games or politics pass the budget as is.

Explicitly wrong.

American Federation of Government Employees’ website, National President Everett Kelley -- “None of these steps favor one political side over another,” Kelley wrote.

From your link.

Sure thing, champ. Take comfort in that as they continue to hold on this, and let's see where things land.

They wanted to destroy the government anyway. They are fine with this.

Republicans lost this in the first couple days when they were absolutely giddy about how the shutdown would let them hurt feds and the poor and everyone else they don’t like. That told the public Trump wanted this and caused it. They’ve been backpedaling ever since.

Wow, this shutdown thread rolled over to the 2nd page of DCUM Politics.

We are truly forgotten. Opening Jan 2029, maybe?

That's a neat narrative you got there.

A clean CR would continue existing programs, as is. But that's not what's happening, instead Medicare and ACA are being gutted.

I would support a clean CR that actually did that but the GOP's CR doesn't do that. Also, it only kicks the can down the road for a couple of weeks.
