Crazy that Yorktown has won the liberty district 4 years in a row, especially this year when quite literally everyone thought Langley had it. |
Is this Region D schedule for Thurs night(?):
W-L (L4) at Madison (C1) McLean (L3) at Chantilly (C2) Westfields (C3) at Langley (L2) Oakton (C4) at Yorktown (L1) |
Really? Yorktown was ranked higher preseason and this was the write up: Langley and McLean have closed the gap and will be looking to make a run at the district title, but the Liberty belt still runs through Arlington for now. Seems accurate. Before the game this week about 75% of the predictions had Yorktown winning. |
Yorktown coaching is great. Coach Beer is the real deal. |
Yes, but I would put it like this for bracket purposes: W-L (L4) at Madison (C1) Westfield (C3) at Langley (L2) McLean (L3) at Chantilly (C2) Oakton (C4) at Yorktown (L1) |
Region C
Lake Braddock @ Robinson Woodson @ Edison South County @ Hayfield West Springfield @ West Potomac Bottom half of the bracket will be interesting to see who emerges, but Robinson wins this thing in a landslide. |
This was really close except for the Justice OT loss to Edison. |
Yeah, their game plan was great. Langley came with the same plan from the first game and Yorktown was ready for it and picked them apart. Yorktown's offense is more dynamic now and the defensive scheme was good for holding #2 and #8 in check as much as possible. Langley made some mid-game adjustments to get them better looks in the second half but the lead was too much and the changes were too late. |
Langley's offense vastly different with a healthy #0. Impressive stuff against Yorktown's defense. Curious to see how they look the next two games. |
I am too, they need to tighten up a bit on defense. Offensively they have the firepower and seemingly the game plan too, but they need to start putting it to work earlier in the game not waiting until the fourth quarter in an attempt to mount a comeback. |
Langley parents been real quiet lately |

Langley coaching staff on the chopping block? Cant seem to ever win the big game, with all that talent.... |
Yorktown benefits greatly from an early entry into pipeline. All major contributors on Yorktown team would have an extra year of high school experience than FFX schools (in their 8th grade). For a senior starter, that’s 33% more high school experience at the start of the season (4 yrs of experience vs 3). Program size and the mental preparation through the extra HS experience is huge advantage that YT has over other schools. |
They're 12-4 and played in the district final. They are not on the chopping block. |
