Kyle McDaniel Sued & Accused of Embezzlement

Anonymous
The Post article certainly suggests McDaniel is a slimeball who took advantage of a longstanding friendship with a business partner to rob their business for his own personal benefit.

This guy has no business remaining on the FCPS School Board, and the other Democrats on the School Board have no business interacting with him. If they can't replace him, they at least can shun him and remove him from his committee assignments. He is toxic.

Even WaPo sees the craziness as his colleagues on the school board stay mute. Crazy!

The school board sticks together and will not say a thing because Karl F. is Chairman and he supported Kyle unequivocally with a huge campaign donation of $15K+ from his enormous coffers, and as Chairman made Kyle the Budget Chair.

WaPo usually waits until the story simply cannot be contained before breaking it. Same with many other outlets that lean left (even though supposedly WaPo isn't left leaning any more). I'm convinced they don't want to break chummy ties with FCPS insiders. Why they think those chummy ties will lead to good stories is what I don't know. Or they think it will somehow help Trump if they report bad news about the left?

That's because Karl is a crook too.

I think they wait to see if a story that might portray FCPS in a negative light gets any traction (this one did, as it got picked up by multiple local papers/blogs and news networks), and then report on it when a failure to do so would make them look asleep at the wheel.

It's not exactly cutting-edge local journalism, but I don't think it's intended to help or hurt anyone at the national level.

This is a civil lawsuit. The accusations are "alleged." However, the "appearance of wrongdoing" is pretty strong. The SB should remove him as Budget Chair based on the appearance.

And, I certainly hope that someone is auditing his School Board expense account.

He should recuse himself from SB votes and be stripped of his committee assignments until the civil matter is resolved and he explains why the dispute arose and how it was resolved.

If the matter results in a civil settlement with the terms kept private, a cloud will hang over McDaniel for the rest of his tenure on the SB, and he should not be serving under those conditions.

He was one of the SB members who raised concerns about Karl Frisch's incredibly wasteful Dunn Loring ES project, but then took a pass and went ahead and approved it when the SB voted on the last Capital Improvement Program. That stunk to high heaven, and for all we know Frisch had dirt on McDaniel at the time.

Even though the lawsuit relates to a private business, it says he embezzled funds to spend on his SB campaign and for personal expenditures while at a SB event in New Orleans. His FCPS accounts absolutely need to be audited, with the results shared with the public.

Remember when his backers tried to argue that this wasn’t a legit news story because it was on a conservative news site?

I haven’t seen any apologies from them. Where’d they all go? Perhaps they’re at the strip club with their SB rep.

Btw, what kind of message does this send to FCPS kids. Imagine spending so much time fighting for equity to be taught in school curriculum, while totally ignoring that your fellow board member is allegedly stealing to objectify women. I guess they argue do as we say, not as we do?

In Kyle's case, that's an assumption on your part.

The objectify women part is subjective. While I'm with you, some will strenuously argue that women in those careers are empowering themselves. Plus that's a side issue. The real issue (and the real negative message it sends FCPS kids) is that if you have enough friends in high places you don't get consequences. Our society keeps sending that message more and more strongly no matter who's in charge, and it's terrible, because that means it's becoming more and more true.

I think the PP was highlighting the word women, not objectified.

Was wondering about this. Someone else in this thread said he was maybe with another sb member at the strip club. It did make me wonder which other sb member and what type of strip club. I wonder what his wife and daughters think about this.

It’s funny, because I often discuss with people that the far left feminists and the bro culture right have more and more frequently aligned their views.

In this instance, it’s pressing for more strip clubs.

In other instances, the far left and far right align, like the dumbing down public education, if even for different end goals (equity vs private school).

Either way, I can think of several other real issues with having an alleged embezzler who allegedly frequents strip clubs in a position overseeing the schooling of 180k students.

Yeah, and seems to be socially accepted since he is a white, male bisexual. Nothing to see here folks. Nothing to see here parents.
