Is 68 too old for law school?

I agree with may not have a career, but I'd be thrilled to work with Democracy Docket right now, so I bet there is tons of volunteer stuff you can do.

A friend does a program representing/helping criminal defendants with like paperwork and court watching and doesn't have a law degree. Can't recall what the position is called.

I had a classmate in her 60s in my law school class. Part of her divorce settlement required her ex to pay for law school. She worked for many years (and up to her death) in nonprofit law, and as far as I know, was happy with her work.

Basically, he said to hire someone who can withstand the waiting around at court. There is a lot of downtime and schedules are not reliable. It can get physically demanding for an older person and this would not serve the client well to have an attorney come in tired, frazzled and their pencils not sharpened.

That pp is "Not a lawyer" is right.

I'm a litigator, earn several hundred k per year, and 99% of my work is at a desk. The work requires less stamina than driving.

Different kind of litigator. I think they meant trial attorney at local courthouses.

Don’t let someone who knows nothing make decisions for you. Just take some classes to start and enjoy them. Then take more or don’t. Live in the moment and don’t think about the end results

OP's moment was two years ago, when the posted what you responded to.

But did we ever learn if she went to law school or not?

Nope
