have you done the clomid challenge test after IVF?

I was just getting geared up for a new IVF cycle in two weeks when the doctor office called and indicated the team had reviewed my chart and determined I should do the clomid challenge test first. At first I was frustrated, as I had to move things around to accommodate this next cycle (you know how planning is), and that I have to wait another full month!

Can I still try to get pregnant naturally during the clomid challenge? The office is sending me the information and a nurse will call next week to to discuss. Still wonder why now and not before my first IVF.

From what I understand, the clomid challenge test is another test of ovarian reserve, but it is usually done for either older patients or for those whose FSH level was high. I'm guessing, but I'd say that your FSH level came out fairly low, but that they were not that happy with your response to your first IVF cycle. How many eggs did you produce and how many fertilized? I'd definitely call your doc to discuss and to see what his recommendations would be based upon the Clomid Challenge results. Are they looking at it to help determine if you should change protocols? From what I know, you can still try to get pregnant the cycle that you are on clomid.

but you could definitely get pregnant following the clomid challenge cycle as you're on clomid for a couple days so you've got those drugs in you might as well try... but yes, the clomid challenge is a test of ovarian reserve which is usually done in the early stages of determining your course of fertility treatments, it was the first thing they asked me to do. that said, i'm not an RE so i'm sure your docs have a good reason for going this route now.. the other two things i did right after the challenge were the endometiral biopsy and the HSG test. good luck!
