A PP is arguing that only Chantilly kids should go to Westfield because Westfield has a Chantilly address. Of course, Chantilly High is in Springfield district. So, I guess Greenbriar kids should go to West Springfield..... |
Seeing as there’s no effort to fill excess capacity at Herndon, I doubt anyone would bat an eyelash if Westfield dropped below 2500. 2250, maybe. Under 2000, definitely. |
Duh! |
Have you ever heard of Langley? Or Madison? Or Oakton? |
Easy answer: Oak Hill will go to KAA. No school is likely to be sent to Westfield. Centreville needs relief. With Oak Hill out, the school will come from Centreville. |
No, she said its reasonable to fill empty Westfield seats with kids who live in areas of Chantilly next to Westfield being that Westfield is literally IN Chantilly. Stop your nonsense. |
I think they leave it alone and let new construction backfill. |
Were their boundaries drawn under the current SB? |
Chantilly is in Chantilly too!!!!! |
I wonder if they will still start the renovation at CVHS. It was supposed to start this winter, I believe. |
They're certainly not CHANGING them under the current boundary study. |
Yes. Did someone say it was not? |
This is an interesting suggestion and definitely the least controversial move. Do we know how much all that new construction is expected to yield as far as students? There are a lot of new developments all multifamily. |
They will neither want nor need to overtly consider demographics when the starting point will be to populate KAA with Coates, McNair, Floris, and Oak Hill. If it were just these four it will be moderate FARMS due to Coates and McNair. Add one more low FARMS feeder like Crossfield or Fox Mill, and the rate comes down, but it’s still got good diversity and compact boundaries and no one will confuse it with Langley. So the demographics of KAA only become an issue because other people are throwing mud at the wall because they don’t like the potential ripple effects. |
The demographics are an issue b/c this SB and FCPS leadership care GREATLY about appearances and looking like they put equity first. They literally say, equity is the most important thing. They will do what's logical AS LONG AS it gets them to somewhere like 30% FARMS kids. If it doesn't they will start to rejigger to try to get their desired balance. |
