I'm so sad that we're getting to the end of yummy summer fruit! I do not want to go through the hassle of canning, but am wondering if there is another way I can buy bulk peaches and berries and freeze them, or otherwise store them, so we can enjoy them this winter?
I made jam last year, and will do that again, but am hoping there's a way to save fruit without using so much sugar. Thanks! |
| Short answer, yes. At least for peaches, peel and slice them, then freeze them in portions suitable for making pie or whatever you plan to do with them. We had great sucess in freezing blueberries and using them in a cobbler and heating them up for an ice cream topping. Frozen fruit is good for baking and in smoothies. |
| First freeze on a cookie sheet so that they won't stick together. Then put them in freezer bags. |
