| Does anyone commute from DC or Arlington into the Herndon area? Wondering what I should expect and if it's as bad as commuting to DC. |
|
I commute from Herndon to DC, and the opposite commute would NOT be bad. Everyone is heading into DC.
Would you take Metro to Bus, or drive? Either way, you'll do much better than us going INTO DC. |
| Where do you live and where in Herndon is the office? That's not a public transportation commute so I assume you would be driving. Traffic on 66 west bound is backed up for most of the morning from DC westbound to past the toll road exit (assuming you would be going 66 to the toll road to get to Herndon). Once you got on the toll road, you would be fine. On the way home, traffic gets backed up on the toll road pretty far back to get onto 495/66 eastbound and 66 will be congested all the way to wherever home is. The earlier in the a.m. you leave, the better. |
| Could be worse, but still not fun. 25 miles takes me 55 minutes. The toll near the beltway exit going home is the worst. Construction is not making it easy either. |
| DH commutes from Arlington to Chantilly (near Dulles and next to Herndon) and it takes him over an hour most days. We are moving out there next year bc he can't take it anymore. |
| I did DC to Herndon for 15 months - averaged 50 minutes each way. Too hard to predict the days when it would take 1:15 to get home, though, so I found a new job. |
A colleague does Arlington toour office in Herndon, toll road definitely. At least you wont be driving in to the sun, people apparently lose their sunglasses aroundhere all the time.
