+1 and as someone else noted upthread, the Versace gown from Paris is not doing it for me this time. It looks just ... sad now. (I understand this is on purpose.) It did remind me though of the necklace Petrovsky gave her - the little row of diamond beads, that got broken when she broke up with Alex. That was a great necklace. |
I totally buy the Miranda transformation. My friend who came out after 20 years of marriage was EXACTLY like this and apparently it’s a common thing to kind of enter a second adolescence and totally ignore responsibilities like kids etc. I remember reading lots of blogs and fora at the time to try to help me understand what she was going through. |
Also enjoying the outfits. Some of Carrie's long flouncy skirts (especially the white one) kind of bother me though - I keep thinking they are going to get filthy on NYC streets. |
I’m the “don’t get why” PP and I watch on HBO Max via Roku. Thanks to the PP who pointed out the “Extras” option under the episode but I shouldn’t have to press like eight buttons to watch the scenes from next week. Sheesh. I love HBO Max’s content but their utility is terrible. |
Why were so many posts about Che and Miranda deleted? I didn’t see anything offensive. |
Prediction:
Miranda goes to Cleveland and makes an absolute fool out of herself. She finds Che in bed with another person. Che's like, I told you I could never be traditional! Miranda heads back to NYC totally confused and needs to make peace with herself. Begins drinking again. Carrie and her new schoolteacher boyfriend go out but he breaks up with her for not being over Big. She's not ready to date but claims she is. Last shot of the season is her eating ice cream alone in her wedding dress or some such. Charlotte and her new token friend have a massive falling out over some kind of school scandal -- maybe her child criticizes Rock or something. Seema helps Steve find a new apartment. |
Will the young woman downstairs become a regular? She seems to be the new Carrie. |
That’s sort of my guess too. Like she’ll be Carrie 2.0 |
I’m pp. I also wonder if Carrie will be a casual observer or become the young woman’s confidant/mentor in some way. |
This reboot has been so depressing. But maybe it fits. Reminds me of the Gilmore Girls sequel where Rory has become a snarky, cruel, permanent "other woman" - you look back at the original episodes and you can see where it was there all the time...The main characters are entertaining, at times endearing, but have little true integrity. |
I want Carrie to date her cute orthopedist. |
There is only two more episodes so I doubt it. |
Agreed. The point is that she reminded her of her long-lost younger self, including the toxic dating. I can’t imagine that character serving any other narrative purpose. Too many other new characters to develop! |
No chance. The downstairs neighbor declared Carrie to be "cool" and this show exists to try to convince us that the terrible person who is Carrie Bradshaw is amazing. Since everything is in service of glorifying Carrie, her time here is done. |
Same, they start automatically for me. |
