How does Old Navy run in comparison to Baby Gap? My DS is 19 months and in the 90th percentile for height and weight. In Baby Gap he's still got plenty of room in the 18-24 month size and 2T bottoms are really too big. I'm about to order a few things from Old navy but can't decide which size to get. I feel like I had some Old Navy stuff last year that seemed to run smaller than the Gap, but I could be making that up. Thoughts? |
Is your baby long in the torso? My 19 mo DS is about 50-60% for height, but it's all in his torso, and he is just about out of his 18-24 mo ON onesies length-wise, so if your DS is 90% I doubt you will have much use for 18-24 mo ON. I also find ON is cut for short torso/wide babies, compared to Carter's onesies which fit my long torso/skinny baby much better (he is just outgrowing the 18 mo Carters now). Oddly enough given the wide bodies, some of the ON onesies (the ones sold in three-packs) have super-narrow sleeves, so watch out if your son has chubby arms.
We have a handful of Gap onesies and I think they are slightly longer/leaner than ON for a given size, although not as much so as Carters. |
Not sure about the toddler sizing, but infant sizing (12-24mo) Old navy is definitely smaller than Gap. Unless it's summer-only stuff, I'd probably go with the 2T. |
My DS was very tall and skinny, 87% height and 50% weight. I found that I could get through a year on two pairs of pants, one from old navy the other from baby gap in the same size. So a 2t would start to get too short closer to 2.5+ and then I could have him wear 2t in the gap pants that would carry him into 3. |
