That's what you tell yourself. But also because of people like me and my peers. We're all GenX. Did you think only youngsters voted for him? You would be wrong.

Not PP: This NYC-residing GenXer did NOT rank Mamdani and will NOT be voting for him in the fall. I want to vote for a millennial socialist like a hole in the head. Probably going to write in Adrienne Adams.

Can you explain your dramatics concerning Mamdani?

I’m actually surprised Gen X is so against socialism. I guess they don’t mind that Social security will end for sure with them despite a lifetime of paying taxes

We're not against policies that help other people. We just hate phony virtue signalers like these so-called socialists.

Right. I am totally fine with losing my safety net as long as I’m not governed by some guy who is too virtuous seeming bc it MUST be fake!!! And if he checked the wrong box on his college app at 17 yo, forget it! I will not tolerate a candidate like that, even if he does care about working class and middle class issues. No thanks!! /s

If I am proven wrong eventually, I'll admit it. However, in the meantime I recommend that you prepare yourself for the possibility of being disappointed. No sarcasm.

Proven wrong about what?

And if you hate Mamdani, tell us what’s good about the other candidates?

They are just mad that he’s young and smart and good looking and hangs out with AOC, and they got stuck with maga swamp witches.

I thought he grew up in queens but he grew up in morningside heights right by Columbia university and still was dumb enough to check black on his application when his dad was a known faculty member

How does it feel that Millennial socialists skipped right past Gen X in national politics? Gen X is like a ghost generation

Gen X kind of blurred together with late arriving Boomer Gen. if you were born in the 60s or early 70s you likely had brothers and sister born in the early 60s who were called Boomers. It’s stupid to label people based on someone labeling two people born four years apart on either end as being different.

I guess. I think if you weren’t old enough to get drafted to Vietnam, you’re Gen X. I guess Obama is technically a boomer but he seems more Gen X since he was born in 1961, too young to serve in Vietnam. He was 18 in 1980.

Okay so people will be disappointed that he can't accomplish as much as he says he will. So what? How is that worse than other candidates?

I love how half the people are saying "he's lying, he can't do any of this" and the other half "he will do so many bad things and destroy the city." Which is it?

Mamdani is lucky because Governor Kathy Hochul faces election next year. If she doesn’t give Mamdani the budget he wants for his programs, she could possibly lose the election

I've been involved with community issues in NYC. Millennials are some of the most insufferable performative virtue signalers. They show up to community meetings, rant and rave, and then never show up again to the meeting and/or do nothing about the issue. Believe me, I don't think there should be billionaires either but I have no faith in Mamdani to accomplish anything. So the guy made videos that attracted attention. So he can smile into the camera. What does that actually have to do with governing?

The most important part of being mayor is having a good relationship with the governor. Deblasio and Cuomo famously despised each other which led to the COVID crisis affecting nyc in a large way because Cuomo refused to give bigger budgets to de Blasio hoping he’d fail. Cuomo got the karma he deserved.
Kathy hochul will be under lots of pressure to make Mamdani fail. I hope she doesn’t listen
Already blaming Hochul for the failure of socialism?

She will indeed be blamed, because Mamdani's teflon coating makes blame bounce off him. He smiles, lies, and gets fawned over.

She has already come out in support of him.

That he's not up to the job.

I don't hate Mamdani. I just don't think that making engaging videos qualifies someone to be Mayor or indicates that he will be successful at the job.

This is how we keep ending up with 80 year old presidents. Then they elected the least qualified one in history to do it again.

Fresh blood is needed.
