New to FCPS--do they send out back to school info in mail?

Hi, my son is new to FCPS--starting first grade. I registered him in the spring and have heard nothing. No bus info, no lunch info, no back to school info, no open house info. I called about 2 weeks ago just to ensure they had everything they needed and they said I'd get info in August. The person answering the phone was pretty short with me so wondering if others in FCPS could tell me when to expect some communication. Thanks!

I would expect something in the mail next week. Yes, it is short notice, and yes it is frustrating. But I also get that kids register all through the summer and it is hard for them to make bus schedules until they have final-ish registration numbers.

I think almost all the ES have the Open House date and time on the school's website. Our school also has the BTS supply lists there as well.

Lunch schedules are generally not shared until school starts. Or did you mean a menu?

Thanks alot, I guess I was just eager to get the info before I head out for vacation. No biggie on lunch just was wondering about how to set up online account and stuff like that. I did check the website and found the open house info.

You can usually set up the lunch account at the Open House.

I don't think you can set up the lunch yet on MyLunchMoney.com. I tried this for my rising kinder and even though I have his school id number now, the account wouldn't accept it yet. I think the school has to set the id numbers into the system.

It will be ready at the open house, I'm sure.

Check the calendar on the school's site. Our school has posted the open house time and back-to-school night info there.

And FCPS is horrible with getting bus schedules out. We never even got one last year; I had to ask my neighbor where the bus picked up.

Weird. I set both my kids up online. But last time I did it was year ago.

8:43 here. When I set my DD's lunch account up, initially I had to do it at the school and then afterwards I could use mylunchmoney.com

You get the bus schedules at the open house.

It is good to ask your neighbors with elementary school age kids as all of the schools notify differently.

Does your school have your email address? I have gotten a couple of emails from the school. I called to find out about open house since it wasn't on the website last week, and they said we would get a packet in the mail. Our open house is the Thursday before school starts.

Our open house is on 9/1 as well. Right smack in the middle of the day as to be the most inconvenient time for a two-working parent household with kids in camp. WTF?

And our school sends a letter with teacher assignments. Our former FCPS school posted lists at the entrance.

That sucks. Ours is at 3:00, slightly more convenient than the middle of the day but still a hassle for working parents.

Yes, it sucks. I've got the kids in camps which will be a major hassle to get the kids out and bring them back. I would have preferred 9am, 2pm, anything but 11-12.
