October getaway, moderately-priced, kid-friendly?

My kids have a one week break in October (the week of Columbus Day), and I would love to take a short family vacation during the first half of the week. I'm looking for suggestions for moderately-priced getaways that are relatively close (say within 4-5 hours of DC), have fun kid activities, and enough to do for 3 days. Any suggestions? I have heard good things about Great Wolf Lodge but wasn't sure that it would offer enough for a few days -- seems like it may be more appropriate for an overnight trip. Thanks!

Philly is a terrific place to take kids. Please Touch museum, a great zoo, fun neighborhoods and parks. Could swing by Hershey Park for a day.
