Not surprised at all. As far as I know, there is no dialogue about snow removal services between the County and the MCPS Central Office, which there should be. For the county, standards of snow removal have been met. For the school, they haven't. It's on the school system to demand additional assistance from the county, and apparently, they either have not done so, or have not been able to access them. More transparency is needed in their dealings. I suspect neither wants the extra snow removal to come from their budget!

And that's a lack of leadership from the top. DCPS for all of its flaws, prioritized opening schools and getting the National Guard to help with snow removal. MoCo doesn't seem to care if all the other schools around them are open.

They very much do, but are realizing this only now. The time to remove all that ice and snow was last week and last weekend. Now it's opening time, and oops - MCPS not quite ready.

Does MCPS not have a subscription to the Washington Post? They publish information daily that shows each day last week the number of area school districts that were closed or not operating virtually dwindled. I'd be happy to share my login.

I don't know why you keep posting "on time" crap, but that has ZERO chance of happening. DCPS, FCPS and most other districts announced a delayed opening. This area needs staggered commutes and kids need daylight to arrive safely at school.

Please open please please please!!! Why are there crickets! Is that good or bad? I am losing my mind!

This is ridiculous. Snow stopped falling 8 days ago. Make a freaking decision. Send out a parent square message with your explanation. All you need to do is tell us what is open tomorrow and what time. Whatever your justification is it doesn't matter. Just tell us.

Not sure what you mean. That's plenty warm.

That's not the issue. The issue is that apparently no one in Central Office had a clear handle on the time it would take to remove snow to opening standards.

Take your meds and sit down. You're not helping.

It’s totally crazy. MCPS specifically said one of the major issues is roads that are barely passable yet no one in the county is did a thing about those roads all weekend or today. Do they have phones to talk to one another?

Calm down. Go have a drink. Maybe play with your kids. The little cuties grow up in a flash.

Today was sunny and a high of 32. But MCPS didn't feel like opening.
