ILs take/divide up leftovers without asking

You seem to have a listening problem. If you have overnight guests and plan to offer/left overs the next day then unless you double your amounts there is nothing left for greedy FIL/MIL who already snatched up containers full of food. You would be stuck explaining to rude guests that no they can’t have any leftover because the greedy boomers grabbed them already. You are stuck making more meals for rude people. The alternative is to double but that is a lot of work.

Crazy grandma up above doesn't listen to anyone so she refuses to acknowledge how much work op has put in to the meal and also refuses to acknowledge that op has to feed guests the next day. She and the other old crones just want to crow about how easy they would find it when clearly they haven't hosted themselves. Also the larger the batch of food you are making, the harder it is to maintain how well it is made. Anyone who cooks often knows this.

Good cooks also know how to choose recipes they can scale. Again, when there’s a will, there’s a way. OP is hell bent on serving thanksgiving dinner two nights in a row (yuck, no thanks) because she is rigid. There are tons of solutions that would be readily apparent to a more flexible person. But OP is not interested in solving her problems.

You're the one who is super rigid. Everyone except MIL is fine with OP's plan. You're hell bent on making sure that MIL can steal OP's food rather than accepting that everyone else is perfectly happy grazing on leftovers shared freely. OP already has a perfect solution, and it's that MIL doesn't claim food to take home when she's still actively being a guest in OP's house. Why are you incapable of seeing that hoarding leftovers for your exclusive use when you're a guest in someone else's house is horribly rude?

One thing I've not seen mentioned yet--where are all of these leftovers that they packaged up and are upset that OP served being stored? I've hosted a large out of town Thanksgiving before, and when there are enough leftovers for everyone to have another meal of them the next day, they also overwhelm the refrigerator space. We eat them the next day so that we can clear some space for other food. Is MIL also hogging most of your refrigerator so that she can take her Tupperwares of 3 day old food home on Sunday?

Presumably, they're in OP's fridge. If they weren't, the other guests wouldn't have found and wanted to eat MIL's leftovers.

The other guests are one couple. This is a very small crowd. There must have been very little left at all. But as usual op hasn’t come back. Probably left to start the thread people not taking leftovers.

This. What I'm picturing in my head is that the people still staying at OP's house on the Friday or Saturday want some thanksgiving leftovers. There are leftovers still in the fridge, but the guests and OP can't have them because MIL 'reserved' them to take home in a few days. That's quite frankly nuts and rude. Until the guests have left, the leftovers should be for everyone to share.

So you're saying the ILs forego their own leftovers and let them sit for days until they finally go home? That's not very credible.

OP said that the next night she went into the IL’s containers to offer everyone leftovers, and they objected. So it certainly looks as if they are letting them sit for at least 36 hours until they leave on Saturday or later.

Ok. Just ignore that it's "their Tupperware" and serve. Where is OP's own Tupperware? How can there be so little left of a giant turkey?

Have you ever made a turkey? If you have nothing left after someone puts some in a Tupperware, you didn't make much. Most people have turkey for days which they turn into soups, enchiladas, sandwiches, and on and on. Try it.
