People have already pointed out the minutes. Kids’ names and ages are still publicly available on MM and USA swimming’s site. If it’s the DOBs they are trying to protect, numerous people have stated that it is a very quick and easy fix to have the DOBs not included in the meet file.

It's PII, personally identifiable information. And it's not all laid out there. The minutes provide a summary of the motion that was presented and apparently approved, but as noted earlier in this thread if you read closely you'll see that the motion was based largely on hearsay rather than an actual directive from USAS. All of which is consistent with an action not being thought out before being hastily implemented.

USA Swimming responded to the Myswimio creator. He said that USA made it clear that data files could be shared if they didn't have birthdates. He said they were considering making an announcement about this. How do we get the PVS board to cooperate? Can we email the USA swimming board and copy the PVS board?

Is this info shared anywhere? Does anyone have a connection to the PVS board? They should be removed from the board if they can't help our swimmers get updated results on Swimcloud. Its the only way to really get recruited unless you want to spend thousands on a recruiting service. DO THE RIGHT THING PVS.

myswimio creator posted a copy of USA Swimming’s response to this issue on the myswimio facebook page. It definitely says USA Swimming’s position is that cl2 files without DOB can be posted.

His Facebook page also says PVS has shifted from blaming PII to saying there is no requirement for the LSCs to post the result files and that users can just use SWIMS.

Of course PVS wasn’t going to backtrack and say oh our bad we will just remove the DOBs from the meet files and resume posting them. This has to be one of the more ridiculous things for an LSC to dig in on. Also who can “just use SWIMS”, do they mean college recruitment should now be done through SWIMS? Because that’s all well and good, but if PVS is one of the only LSCs not using Swimcloud there is not much incentive to change how recruiting is done.

No October Open results anywhere- not on USA Swimming, definitely not on Swimcloud...what is going to happen with recruiting? What a mess

It’s not PII. USA Swimming made it clear to LSC’s that they can release result files as long as it didn’t contain date of births.

But PVS doesn’t care. Their board isn’t representing their members who they are elected to represent.

I actually did and they basically said we put up the pdf and you need to reach out to your club to upload them to swimcloud because they get the file.

Great in theory but my club is an admin mess and barely posts results in our system.

That is why I feel it is more about a bias on tools. The owner of one of the tools is scraping USA swimming’s website in violation of their TOS. That owner is up in the PVS/VA LSC area and has connections with them.

Meanwhile that owner created a Facebook page Sunday and posted that they are the victims and suffering in all this from the lack of files. Meanwhile they have every meet result sent to USA swimming.

Seems like a potential conflict of interest to me and rewarding bad actors in this space.

Wrt recruiting is it really that dire? College times are readily available. The applicant/prospective swimmer is still able to see what events/times he or she needs to be competitive and can make that case to the coach, backed up with times. I get it that it’s a lot more work on both ends.

What is the difference in PII between the pdf result files and the hy-tel result files without DOB?

Answer is no difference. They both contain name, gender, age, team. So why can one be released and not the other?

Playing favorites with a PVS parent owned tool that scrapes USA swimmings website for results, in violation of USA swimmings terms of service, so they don’t need the result files and will benefit from others not having them posted?

Hmmmmm…
