I wish there was clear information about hpv available. These allegedly "long dormant" cases suddenly popping up, conviently coinciding with midlife crises... I have never had an abnormal pap, nor have I ever tested positive for hpv. I am faithful to my dh. If I come up positive, he's busted. |
For the record, OP said it was TV, not HPV |
Agree. Met him it at 26, 54 now. Never had an abnormal pap or positive HPV test. I get some people don't want to face reality and it's hard and you might want to cling to those 'odds'--but it serves you no purpose and puts your health/life in danger. |
I feel the same about that. I don't even get yeast infections or UTIs--50s. So if I was having symptoms and tested positive for TV like OP--definitely going to investigate/confront. |
Which isn't even always sexually transmitted. |
OP hasn't even seen a real doctor, she is traveling and probably went to a clinic. |
It’s very typical for oral cancer to be caused by 20-30+ year-old dormant HPV. Many people who had a lot of oral sex partners when they were young get it after decades of faithful monogamy. It gets encapsulated in the nooks/crannies of the oral cavity and then decides to bust out many years later. |
Yes, but the comparison between hpv and other stds and stis is relevant here. There are posters claiming there are non sexual ways if contracting sexually transmitted diseases. If a woman's hpv is attributed to dormancy, then maybe her case of trich came from a towel. The reality is, if you have an std, you have been exposed to an std by your partner. |
100% this. Most of what we're seeing here are women that unfortunately choose to believe that their partner was faithful to them when he was not. In general, I think it's best to just accept the truth, work through it with a therapist, and figure out if you can salvage the marriage. Sticking your head in the sand and imagining you got it from the toilet seat or whatever is very 1950's. |
You don't understand that you can get and STI like TV from sex with your partner because he puts it inside you but he carries the parasite outside his body from a non-sexual event, just like you can get a UTI from sex but it's not because somebody cheated. |
No what we have here are women that understand science. I actually think OP's H cheated. But just so we are not spreading false information, it is very possible to get these STI's and nobody cheated. |
New poster and I haven't read all 13 pages, but my DH and I have never been with anyone else in our lives, and a couple of years ago, I had an abnormal pap and positive for HPV. It is rare, but it happened to me. |
When you say these STIs, are you referring to trich? And you are saying it is "very possible" to get trich from a non sexual way? I'd love for you to explain that one to OP. Real life examples are a bonus. |
I’ll bet it all cleared up quickly, too, right? Suddenly appeared and then disappeared, but no cheating…oh, honey, honey…keep telling yourself that. |
FFS: NO. That is the exception, not the rule. That is a very, very, very miniscule chance. Without bodily fluid exchange with someone that has it--no. This towel incident and dirty hot tub is so far-fetched. The duck test—"If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck" |
