14:54 Poster - actually - the father is a deadbeat - has not seen DD in over 18 months and hasn't paid a dime. There would be room for a good father - if he was a good father. I would want nothing more for her than a good father. But until then - I willl continue to do it all!

What do you mean by "around here"? Many of DC's residents only have a high school degree. You're living in a rarefied world; I'm sure you realize that.

I am a WASP who went to a private Episcopal school k-12 in a southern town, was in cotillion, was a deb, in a sorority at a well known university (non-IVY). When people learn these things about me, it's like they can't get past it and think I am a huge snob.

Sadly, I look like one stereotype but the real me is totally something else. Its driven me crazy my whole life. People are always dissapointed or shocked or surprised when they start to figure that out. sigh...
