We're hoping to make the switch from Sibley to VA Hospital Center for Baby #2. Does anyone have a great OB to recommend that delivers at VA Hospital Center? Any information positive or negative would be very helpful!
Thanks. |
I will be delivering in 6 weeks at VHC - quite a few on this forum go to Dr. Piness / Dr. Rossi. They used to be a part of one practice but split a few months ago and for various reasons some patients went with one doctor while others went with the other. You can search the archives on the old site to see opinions on them both as many threads seemed to pop up when the split happened. |
Dr. Tchabo delivered both of my sons at VHC - one in 2005 and one in 2007. He is the only doctor in his practice and he is well regarded in the area. He is also head of the OB/GYN residents program at Georgetown U so even though he is older, I feel like he is attuned to changes that might be taking place in the field. I was happy with my experience with him - both deliveries went smoothly although he did not actually deliver either of my sons (a resident did), he was right there all the time. 2 things to consider with him however - the wait times in his office can be extremely long since he is the only dr. there. Also, he is from Cameroon so his accent can be hard to understand at times. But I found him to very calm and reassuring and since he has been practicing so long, I feel like he has probably seen it all. |
Here's another vote for Dr. Tchabo. He is one of the most respected and loved OBs in the DC area. |
I had Dr. Patricia Bannon--so wonderful that I told hubby we could not move until I finished having kids --if that gives you an idea. Her partner is Dr. Armstrong--wonderful wonderful, I would have be happy with him as well. Dr. Tchabo is their go to doc if they are unavailable (also think there is a new doc in the practice but I don't know her) and he delivered Dr. Bannon's kids if that says anything about him.
Good like seems like there are a lot of great options at VHC |
Dr Amy Porter is great and I did not have an easy pregnancy. Her colleague Ingrid McVeary is really good too. |
Yet another vote for Dr. Tchabo here. The only downside that I can think of was mentioned by PP - the wait times. However, this is a function of solo practioner who spends as much time each with each patient as she needs and attends most births. |
I'm also a huge Tchabo fan. The downsides are the horrendous wait times, and I have difficulty understanding him at times, especially over the phone, because of his accent. But I think they are outweighed by the positives. |
Anyone have any feedback on Drs. Elliott and Lashgari? I've heard they deliver at VHC and that they're good... |
I go to Women to Women PC - it's Drs. Williams, Caskie and Cobbs. My primary doctor is Williams, whom I love, but I've also been pleased with my appointments with the other ones. I like that they're all women as I am just more comfortable with female doctors. The practice is really efficient too - not too long in the waiting room, and decent availability of appointments. |
