Ya know... I don't give a damn about how sanctuary cities/states define "sanctuary." The reality is that these cities and states have a slew of illegal alien criminals living freely in their jurisdictions. And, many of them have rap sheets that are quite lengthy. Don't believe me? This is one right here in your hood. |
The court rooms are packed with Hispanics because that’s who cops target. Growing up in Rockville, I was ticketed for minor infractions (like driving 5 miles over the speed limit or driving with recently expired tags that were lost in the mail). My white friends were shocked that I was ticketed instead of just getting a warning. When I went to court I wasn’t surprised that most of the defendants were people of color. Those are the folks that cops target. |
Gotta be honest, in my hood Trump and Musk have done waaaaaaaaaay more damage economically and socially than any Hispanic person I have ever met. They have broadly hit our area with unemployment, horrible working conditions and crappy traffic that affect EVERYONE. -Fairfax resident |
Awww...look at you trying to divert attention from the crap going on in your community. Just a bit of history on the guy pictured above...... Between Feb. 20, 2020, and May 8, 2025, Fairfax County Police arrested Santos-Santos at least 30 times and charged him with crimes including assault and battery, drug possession, drug possession with intent to distribute, burglary, theft, larceny, trespassing, property damage, obstruction of justice, attempting to flee police, failure to appear and violating court orders. I'm thinking if he were to burglarize your home, you would be the first to whine about why he hadn't already been locked up. And, he is not the only one. Here are just a few more: (1/11) 🧵New York Times *wonders* why Virginia is the epicenter of ICE enforcement ➡️Let's show them =10 Illegal Alien Crimes in NoVA in last 12mos⤵️ -Murder & fatal carjacking -Rape & Child Rape -Att Murder x2 -Strangulation -child kidnapping -indecent exposure -child abuse |
So we're back to cherrypicking 10 or 11 criminals out of the tens of thousands rounded up.
Where to even start with the logical and rhetorical fallacies? - fallacy of cherrypicking, fallacy of selective evidence, anecdotes are not data... - fallacy of hasty generalization, drawing broad, sweeping conclusions based on a small and likely unrepresentative sample - fallacy of guilt by association, asserting that an entire group is guilty, that they are all dangerous, violent criminals because they were swept up with a few who are - fallacy of appeal to fear (argumentum ad Metum), attempting to sway opinion through fear and exaggerating threats These are classic, well known propaganda tactics frequently used throughout history to dehumanize and vilify entire large groups by highlighting and amplifying isolated individuals and incidents. I don't think anyone here is opposed to locking up or deporting individuals who are actual dangerous, violent criminals. But what we should ALL oppose is the poster above's dishonest tactics of fear mongering and vilifying broad swaths and entire groups. |
What is due process for illegal immigrants?
They can file for a hearing in immigration court, seeking asylum, withholding of removal, or convention against torture protection. However, if they have arrived within the last two years, they qualify for expedited removal, and the due process is much less. |
Clearly, the sanctuary jurisdictions are against it. Some of these criminals have lengthy rap sheets and they are still walking the streets. So, while these are anecdotes.... there are HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of them out there. |
Another Fairfax County resident here. I’m more concerned about Stephen Miller’s desire for a country with 100m people that look like him than I am about the fact that there are indeed illegal immigrants committing terrible crimes. The brainpower and leadership in charge of this operation matters. How the operation is executed matters. MAGA Miller isn’t objectively serving the people. He simply has an objective, and exploiting public service to meet it. |
You couldn't define it and gave a lame, pathetic and unacceptable excuse for why you couldn't. The reality is that there isn't really a definition, its mostly just a term that the right wing throws around, but which for the most part basically just refers to the fact that they are mad that cities arent doing ICEs job for them, beginning with the fact that they dont have jurisdiction over immigration matters, they arent funded by ICE to support them, and so on. |
You are still flailing, leaning into fallacies, propaganda and fearmongering. You have no evidence that there are "hundreds of thousands" of murderers and rapists and cannibals or even dogs-and-cats eaters. |
They are detained while going through the process. That isn’t punishment, it is the process of removing illegal immigrants. |
Judging from the number of criminal illegal aliens already arrested by ICE in places like Fairfax County, Boston, LA, NY, and other sanctuary jurisdictions, I would say hundred or thousands of criminal aliens is an underestimate. They have arrested around 2800 just in LA. https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2025-07-08/federal-arrests-in-la-are-accelerating-homeland-security And, then there is VA.... https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/05/us/virginia-immigration-arrests.html Virginia Has Become a Hotbed for Immigration Arrests Nearly 3,000 people were arrested by ICE in Virginia in the first five months of 2025, on par with numbers in a much larger state like New York. The majority of ICE arrests have taken place in the Northern Virginia suburbs or in the Richmond metropolitan area. Roughly twice as many arrests have taken place in Fairfax County — the wealthy, densely populated and strongly Democratic county outside Washington — than in any other county in Virginia. And, as of June 2 they have made 1500 arrests in Massachusetts. https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ice-federal-partners-arrest-nearly-1500-illegal-aliens-massachusetts-during U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and federal law enforcement partners apprehended almost 1,500 illegal aliens during a monthlong enforcement operation focusing on transnational organized crime, gangs and egregious illegal alien offenders throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. During the enhanced operation, named Operation Patriot, officers from ICE Boston partnered with the FBI, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the ATF, the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service, the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Coast Guard to arrest 1,461 illegal alien offenders throughout the month of May. And, in NY.. https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ice-law-enforcement-partners-arrest-more-200-alien-offenders-during-enhanced https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ice-federal-partners-arrest-133-alien-offenders-during-enhanced-operation-new-york https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ice-arrests-more-80-during-5-day-enforcement-action-new-york-city-hudson-valley-and |
Ha ha. They call themselves sanctuary cities. This is not a name the right wing has given them. |
