My husband, infant daughter, and I recently moved into the AU Park area and are looking for a vibrant but kid-welcoming Catholic church in upper NW DC or nearby Maryland. We live especially close to both St. Ann's and Annunciation - does anyone have experience with either parish? Before our daughter came along, we often attended the young adult Mass at St. Thomas in Woodley, which we love, but we've likely aged out of "young adult" events ![]() |
Is downtown Bethesda within your range? I'm a member of Our Lady of Lourdes there, and I think it's very family-friendly. |
Blessed Sacrament at Chevy Chase Circle has a ton of young families.

We have friends at St. Ann's (kids are in school there) and they are very happy. I've heard that Annunciation is an "older" parish but I can't attest to that. |
I second Blessed Sacrament. Blessed Sacrament has a special service for families, which is off during the summer. We really like the church and there are tons of young families. |
We belong to Blessed Sacrament, but often go to Little Flower on Massachusetts in Bethesda. Both are great and full of families. |
We live in AU Park and tried St. Ann's but did not really like the feel. We go to Holy Trinity in GT. There are many families in the area that go to:
Holy Trinity, Blessed Sacrament, Little Flower, and there is another parish on Reservior (?) that I know some families attend. |
I love Holy Trinity in Georgetown. It's a Jesuit parish, so a little less conservative than some other churches in the area. |
Have also tried st ann's and didn't love it. We went to holy trinity for yrs when we lived in glover park, haven't been able to find a catholic church in upper nw that compares. For a little while went to st Paul Lutheran on 36th and ct. I liked it but obviously not catholic. We are back at holy trinity and love it. |
OP here. Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Sounds like we have a few places to visit. |
