SY is just what we call it because it starts near when school starts. They are both 12 month windows. One starts on Jan 1 (BY) and the other on Aug 1 (SY). Otherwise there is no difference. People like the window where their kid is one of the older ones.

SY is just what we call it because it starts near when school starts. They are both 12 month windows. One starts on Jan 1 (BY) and the other on Aug 1 (SY). Otherwise there is no difference. People like the window where their kid is one of the older ones.
