All-girls DC Charter School

Anonymous
I just attended an open-house for the Excell Academy- an all girls public charter school. They will begin the year with a Pk3, PK4 and K class and add a grade every year until 8th. They seemed extremely committed to academic excellence as well as social development. The commute seems a bit of a challenge unless you live in SE (anacostia)...but I wonder if it is worth it???Does anyone have experience with all girls-education? not to mention that this will be the first year (though all the current teachers seem to have a lot of experience) Thoughts?

I can tell you one thing about all girls...BOYS are not a distraction However if boys were to be a distraction they could be outside school! I have studied in both all girls and co-ed..both have pros and cons...I think I preferred th co-ed...for myself I liked the fact that I could be friends with boys and learn from them...other than that I didn't there was much difference. If there is no BOY issues, I would go to a good school rather than unisex vs coed! just my thoughts.
