ISO infant daycare or home care near Petworth, Columbia Heights, Mt. Pleasant, Adam's Morgan

Anonymous
I'm due in September and will be going back to work in March. Any recommendations for infant daycare in Petworth, Columbia Heights, Mt Pleasant, or Adam's Morgan? Home daycare or regular daycare would work. Also- I think I would only need care for 3 or 4 days per week. Is that typically an option, or do most place require the 5 days and not offer discounts for fewer days per week?
Thanks! This is all so overwhelming!

It's indeed overwhelming and shockingly expensive! My baby is six months, and I am going back to work part time now. I never had time to research daycare options ahead, so bravo to you for being on top of things!

The Rosemount Center in Mt Pleasant seems excellent, but long waitlist. I am solving the problem with a babysitter a few hours per week for now. Post an ad for free at jobs.ausg.org. I had good luck there, you reach American University students and graduates.

Our DD at Bright Start and Kennedy and GA. We've been happy there (about 18 months) and I beleive they do part time care. The infant teachers were great for our DD.

There are a handful of home day cares. Jubilee Jumpstart and Lanier Lullabyes in AM--I think the latter does part-time. I think there's another one on California Ave in AM/Kalorama, too. Adventureland on Kansas Ave, near Taylor. Bright Start as mentioned above. One other was on the Petworth Parents Yahoo groups email this week; I can't remember the name but you can search the archives if you join the group. You should be able to find a list of licensed, registered home day care centers on the DC gov't website. And don't forget that you can also do a nanny share--neighborhood groups like the Petworth Parents one are good for setting those up.

We've been on the Rosemount waitlist for almost 3 years and have never heard anything from them, so don't get your hopes up on that one!

I noticed some while searching in google but forgot the sites. I think it's the same as this forum, and someone suggested some. I'll try and find it and get back to you asap. But just go ahead and search or call your local business directory.
