I did. DC native even. I am quite aware that history has not always reflected |
That they are considering this only once Roe is overturned makes me irate. They could have done this at any point before now to help support women and families. Who knows how many abortions might have been prevented if they’d been willing to provide a social safety for women and children before now? They’re not doing this because they care about women and families, they’re doing it to avoid a bloodbath in 2022 and 2024. But once they’re secure that people won’t hold it against them, they will roll back all of that support. |
| As far as I can tell from Twitter, all that’s happening is people sending boxes of wire hangers to the conservative justices at the Court’s address. |
Quelle surprise, the GOP is making sht up to play the victim again. |
Following the Constitution is the opposite of being tyrannical. |
| So are they also taking away religious freedom to refuse medical care or blood transfusions for children? Because right now parents have the ability to choose medical treatment or not for their children and some do result in death. But this is all cloaked in religious freedom |
Ain’t all judges republicans/conservatives? |
It is a mess. There's no way it's a final opinion. Barrett has devoted much of her professional life to anti-Roe writings, and Gorsuch is a much better writer. Surely the 2 of them have massaged it into something that is more palatable. Then again, maybe that was too hard, and that's why Kavanaugh may defect. He still has to be able to show his face at the Chevy Chase Club. |
Hiding behind an 1860s interpretation of the Constitution, while in fact seeking to impose a religious teaching that most religions and religious people don’t even accept as valid doctrine, is tyrannical. And I guess the coat hangers are going to be showing up at those justices offices from here on out. What’s going to happen to the state level politicians and rank and file? It’s hard to say, but it’s not going to be pretty. |
| If one of the judges passes in the next month, can ketanji Brown step in or does she have to take breyer's seat? |
Politically effective to do if you have the balls to leak it. And be found out internally. |
Go SCoTUS clerks!! Do a krappy draft fast and give it to your buddy to leak! |
No? |
Leaks have happened at the court before. No full draft opinion text has been publicly leaked like this before. |
Not sure. Roberts was originally nominated to take O’Connor’s seat when she announced her retirement but then Rehnquist died and he ended up taking his slot instead. |
