Every Monday is asynchronous at our ES. I thought that was standard for all of FCPS but apparently our school is just lazy AF. |
Wait, that's not the standard? |
I'm really sorry you feel that way, and I truly hope it's not the case ![]() |
It sounds like there are a handful of schools that still do morning meeting on Mondays. And there have always been interventions - so our Special Ed or ESOL kids might be having groups. People on here don't think kids who need extra help should get it. |
I wasn't posting just about gifts. I actually like most teachers and respect them. I am posting about the incessant requests from PTA, teachers, schools for fundraising. Yes, I will ignore these, and you should too. |
That’s completely fine. I always have ignored those. I wish schools would abolish PTAs. What one school can raise and do for students based on their families’ incomes shouldn’t dictate a much better school experience than schools where families are less wealthy and can’t give or the parents actually have to work and can’t afford for the mom to hang out at the school all day pretending that volunteering and making copies is a real job. PTAs if they exist at all should have zero fundraising capabilities. No extra experiences should be doled out in schools because wealthy families pay for them. It’s deeply inequitable and wrong. |
Wow. You sound so ignorant. |
I am not. PTAs only widen the divide between have and have not schools. |
You just want a righteous excuse so you don't have to contribute to help the kids at your school. Cheap a-hole. |
It's actually really sad. I truly believe there are many amazing teachers out there. But the DL has uncovered the really bad teachers and they are making it horrible for all the rest. Super sad situation. |
No, I love Mondays!
My kids do their school work and then have time to learn through other means. They play with Lego, bake, play outside, paint, do crafts, and learn conflict-resolution skills with each other. The younger children have learned to do laundry, and they've become interested in fashion and care of different fabrics.. The teenager is working on building her own closest organization system-- planning, taking measurements, cutting wood and cedar lining, and constructing. Mondays are what has afforded them the time to do these things. |
I am a teacher, and I definitely did not get told that I did not need childcare for this year. My children have had full-time childcare since August so I could begin the school year. Their dad is with them early in the morning because I go to work well before 6:00, then the nanny is with them until a little after 3:30, when I get home. Even yesterday, when we had an early release, my kids were with the nanny until 3:30. |
The kids at my kids’ school don’t need help. The families are well off. I donate to the school I work at which is low income and doesn’t have a PTA running a 75k account to pay for extras. |
Yeah right you donate. That's funny. Cheap people like you don't donate. You're probably gazing at your reflection right now, congratulating yourself for 'championing' the underdog. |
Ok sure. Weirdo. |
