Maybe someone else will but I won’t. I’m appalled that the Times made this decision in the face of death threats by the President.

You have got to be kidding. Death threats? My God you people really do know how to be hyperbolic.

You are part of the problem when you don't see anything wrong with the president comparing the whistleblower and his sources to spies and then alluding to spies being executed for treason. It doesn't even matter if it's a joke, which I'm sure you and all his excuse-makers will declare, it's completely inappropriate.

Read his damn words.
He was talking about the leakers. That is clear.

I get so tired of the liberals here making statements that are blatantly false and stating them as if they are fact. You all claim to be so intelligent and worldly, yet you cannot even get facts straight. This shows a lack of intelligence.
Or, you are so full of hate that you INTENTIONALLY spread false information. It is one or the other.

You're nuts. Trump clearly made a death threat against the whistleblower. Have you read his damn words?

- DP

He. did. not.

Please explain what this means:
“You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart with spies and treason, right?” he added. “We used to handle it a little differently than we do now.”

Tell us, what did they used to do in the "old days" with "spies and treason" that we aren't doing today?

This is the kind of $hit I am talking about. You INTENTIONALLY left of the first sentence....

“I want to know who’s the person who gave the whistle-blower the information because that’s close to a spy,”

And, he's right.

What leakers? Where was the leak? This all happened in the regular course of business at the White House. Right under their noses out in the open. That's what whistleblowing is -- a report from the inside gathered in the course of one's job. That's why it's called a whistleblower. The information gathered by the whistleblower was not from leaks, it was from that person doing his/her job with people also doing their jobs. Trump calling government employees doing their jobs "spies" who should be offed in the old fashioned way is chilling.

Exactly. And that's what he wants to do to the whistleblower (who he considers a spy)

Exactly. Trump basically said Snitches get Stitches.

Let me explain to you.....

Somebody who had listened to the call or had access to the call passed the content of the call to someone who WAS NOT part of the IC. That person is the whistleblower. That person got the information third hand. The person who passed the information is leaking. It is as simple as that.
If the person listening to the call or reading the transcript had issues.... THAT person should have filed a complaint. Not passed it on to a third party.

This site has the actual audio of what Trump said. Listen to the audio yourself.

https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2019-09-26/trump-at-private-breakfast-who-gave-the-whistle-blower-the-information-because-thats-almost-a-spy

Trump says:

“Basically, that person never saw the report, never saw the call, he never saw the call — heard something and decided that he or she, or whoever the hell they saw — they’re almost a spy,” Trump said.

I want to know who’s the person, who’s the person who gave the whistleblower the information? Because that’s close to a spy,” he continued. “You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart? Right? The spies and treason, we used to handle it a little differently than we do now.”

He is threatening the WH officials who gave the information to the WB of death...I am flabbergasted that some Trump supporters would still defend him. You are despicable...

Don't use words you don't understand well enough to use correctly in context.

Its all second hand information, this person didn't see or hear any of it themselves. That's hearsay...

That’s bullsh!t, the whistleblower said most activities were not directly witnessed, not all.

That gets my 'spidey senses' tingling. That's a slippery statement if I've ever heard one.

I had the same reaction. It all depends on who the whistleblower is and how credible they are.

Credible enough that the Spy Chief took it seriously.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/top-moments-acting-dni-maguire-164858740.html

"I believe that the whistleblower followed the steps every step of the way," he said. “I think the whistleblower did the right thing.”
Maguire also revealed during questioning by Speier that after reading the complaint he "realized full and well the importance of the allegation."

A phone call to a foreign leader is ordinary business. Or at least it usually is.

It's not the whistleblower's fault that Trump is a criminal. That's only Trump's fault.

Who says it wasn’t proper for these people to pass these reports onto the whistleblower? And who says the whistleblower isn’t part of the IC? I’ve been assuming that the whistleblower was in a position of authority over these people, and they were giving him reports so he could do his job.

That is not true. From the actual complaint ...

In the course of my official duties, I have received information from multiple U.S. Government officials that the President of the United States is using the power of his office to
solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election.

...The information provided herein was relayed to me in the course of official interagency business. It is routine for U.S. officials with responsibility for a particular regional or functional portfolio to share such information with one another in order to inform policymaking and analysis.
