I was fine with my rings - until DH and I started having marital problems. Not the only thing, but it was added on to feeling very taken for granted. I work my a$$ off as a co-parent, contributing joint income, and household manager. He had no problem buying himself expensive cars and country club memberships. The ring wasn't really the problem, but it became the lightening rod symbol for some unhappiness. |
My DH used his family ring in a very simple setting in a surprise proposal but afterward said we could get something different if I wanted. I did not ![]() |
This. Wouldn't marry a girl like OP in a million years. Who the fuck is sad and basic enough to want an engagement ring in 2016? |
I love my DW more than anything -- and she was the one who proposed to me. Not all of us are un-feminist failures at life like you. |
Good for you, good for your wife. What does that have to do with sig others who passively aggressively let down their partners in attempts to make the other person break it off? |
We don't have rings. My hubby and I need no manmade tokens of affection to prove our love to the world. We know our love is eternal and true. |
Get thee to an ama. |
So neither of you worry about getting hit on in a grocery store, bar, or countless other places. Wow. |
You sound too immature to get married anyway, OP. Break up with him and grow up. Diamond rings are for insecure girls still playing at princess. Go live a real life with meaning. |
This is a confirmed troll y'all. |
In the great world of 2016 and tinder and limited social morals a ring is not the defense mechanism it used to be. Once I stated wearing my wedding band I got hit on a lot more. And then when we our son and I would take home places without DW present I would get hit on even more. |
Hate to break it to you, but $7k isn't going to get you a nice rock. |
Rocks are overrated. They get in the way when you are doing dishes. Are you sure he wants to marry you though? 3 years is a long time to be talking about marriage. |
It is for me, that is the first thing I look for in a social setting is whether someone has a ring on or not. Most people are like this. |
OP, do yourself a favor and read the thread by the woman with two young kids and a husband who is dying. Hopefully, you will see what a silly concern this is in the long run. |
