What's really disturbing about the article is that it seems that gang members and wannabes are playing out their grudge-matches on new territory, family-friendly Connecticut Avenue and Woodley Park. This is the sort of development that needs to be taken very seriously by the neighborhood, the police and city authorities, with an overwhelming response called for to stop this problem before it continues. |

shington Post) For Woodley Park residents, the shooting was the culmination of a week of disturbances that forced the zoo to close its gates early on consecutive Mondays. On April 14, a man unloading groceries saw a youth fire shots into the air as he and friends ran through an alley off Connecticut Avenue, according to a D.C. police report. Police detained three people, including one hiding in a garbage can, but made no arrests. Officers found four spent 9mm casings near the Marriott Wardman Park on Woodley Road, three blocks southwest of the zoo...Zoo guest services staff member Robin Ballard said the teens who were kicked out had been there April 14. She said managers told her that the teens had posted on Facebook that they would be returning. “They were stealing stuff, and they were fighting,” Ballard said. |
You know, Starbucks has been attracting people carrying guns due to the company's position on the Second Amendment. Perhaps that is why the guns were in the area. And how do we know the shooter wasn't from the neighborhood when they have not identified him/her? |
I'm not saying there are stabbings and shootings every year. But it gets really dicey. If I'm wrong, why don't you go next year with your kids? Take pics by the entrance and tell us how your family had no issues. I live in the neighborhood with my daughter, so I will be around here next year. If you don't think there is anything to fear, please tell us how we were wrong. I am open to reevaluating. How am I a blowhard? (But if you have extra Valium...) |
There's a school and at least two churches located between the zoo and the Wardman Marriott. What a lovely area it's becoming. |
Maybe next year the neighbors should arm themselves. |
Hey Jeff, it seems you forgot to include the other part of the article PP quoted. You think we can't read? And, you think 4 spent casings support your case? |
This AA family goes to six flags on Easter Monday. We've seen enough lions, tigers and bears (in my Jasmine Sullivan voice). |
Wise indeed. But be careful, someone may call you racist for what you just said. |
Don't talk about yourself in the third person. Even without doing that you've caused me to question your sanity. Can you point out which part of that article says those shell casings came from the April 21 shooting? |
You would go on one of the busiest days of the year with your kids to prove us racists and glee takers wrong. If you really do think there are tons of people who are taking glee in these events, this would be a great way to defeat us. It's not worth venturing a crowd to defeat racists? That's disappointing. |
^^^This person has gone from idiotic to downright crazy. Time to cut the cord. Creepy! |
Joking much? |
Right after we hear from the white community about how outraged they are that a few hoodlums have ruined the peace of mind and safety students should have in school without fear of a mass school shooting. What say you, white people? |
Hmmm, was this not a gun-related incident? Why no calls to tackle gun control? Why is that RARELY mentioned when the guns are held by black perps? |
