So I have noticed the clover is out of control in our neighborhood.
Our neighbor that has a meticulous corner lot with no bordering grass with any neighbors...driveway is on the shared corner...just starting getting clover. They have a lawn service. It just sprouted along the front of their yard. This is a very upper middle class neighborhood where most ppl dont do their own yardwork/landscaping. We do. I am glad to see that even those with expensive lawn care service are suffering this season too. This neighborhood also has tons of young kids so I don't think anyone is aggressively spraying chemicals either. |
Why does pride in ownership have to mean no weeds? The inside of my home is spotless, we have no trash in our yard, the shingles are painted. I don't find weeds offensive, and don't want to use herbicides/pesticides/fertilizers. I feel it's better for the environment. I have weighed the pros and cons of using that crap and decided against it. Don't assume that people who have weeds have no 'pride in ownership'. |
Maybe so, but if everyome is usimg it, it has a cumulative effecr, doesn't it? |
Interesting info, thanks! |
Not true: 70% of herbicides are used on lawns. |
No one in your neighborhood gives a crap what your house looks like on the inside. If it's overgrown with weeds, it looks like shit and shows a lack of pride. |
Funny, I seeded clover in my lawn. Clover is my preference for a lawn. After all, no one ever sings "roll me over in the GRASS, roll me over, lay me down and do it again." |
That's your opinion. I think all the pesticides and fertilizers are making the Chesapeake Bay and the rest of the planet look like crap. I think the fact that you're willing to use that shit shows your lack of pride in our planet. |
"Can we all get along?" |
There's a difference between "overgrown with weeds" and having a natural lawn. The difference is mostly in whether you mow regularly. From the street, a well-mowed natural lawn doesn't look bad at all. You literally have to be standing on the lawn to see that it is largely weeds. If someone is standing on my (or PP's) lawn, they have no right to complain about the view. |
OP - can we see a photo of your lawn? |
Yeah, thanks for that panty sniffer. Think I'll go with EINSTIEN over you. http://voices.yahoo.com/einstein-if-honeybees-disappear-man-will-disappear-6080338.html?cat=9 |
Hah no and hes dead anyways |
We don't use any of that crap either. As people have correctly pointed out, if you actually seed your lawn, grass will take over. It's not that hard. So nice try, but sorry honey. Your laziness and lack of care is showing. |
Years ago, clover was included in lawn seed mixes as a desirable thing, but it became labled as a weed when broad-spectrum weed killers that killed all broadleaf plants but not grass were introduced. |
