Then after that, the senate is leaving for the weekend?
So, assuming these two votes today do NOT end the shutdown, the earliest the government will re-open is Tuesday?

It will not reopen wake the hell up Epstein files that is it plain and simple.
Repukes are so stupid.

You are difficult to understand.

Release the Epstein files. How about that?

Or are they trying to pass the senate version that would need to be reconciled if it passes? I cant find anything definitive online. Just trying to figure out if there’s a chance I’ll be able to go back to work tomorrow.

I didn't think it was the NDAA today, just the CR. If you saw something different, can you link to it?

The Senate passed the NDAA last week but the House needs to vote on it.

How did that answer my questions in the post you quoted?

Oh, I see it now, PP.
Here's an article on it - as I read this, even if everybody votes yes today, DOD doesn't get funding right away.

Yep. That’s about the sum of it. See you in furlough again next week. And probably the week after too, if I’m being realistic. My children are certainly enjoying getting rides home from school again. I’d rather be working.

My youngest is really enjoying having me home. My oldest didn't even notice. Yesterday at dinner: "wait, your work is closed?"

I miss the pay more than the work, to be honest, but we all work for money.

In the next life I want to be reincarnated as a SAHM to school aged kids, this is a really sweet gig.

A lot of this guessing reminds me of how we all were when Covid first caused the shutdowns. Many thought we'd be back to normal by Easter 2020. Lol. Does anyone remember those days of modest guesses?

It’s nice being home with them again when they get home from school and being around to be more present during after school hrs. Even TW got me some time with them the RTO really stripped all of that away. I would love to be a SAHM mom with the luxury of not working. My house has never been more organized and clean (maybe since Covid days).

Yes and then the hope that being fully vaccinated meant we would all be free and the world would be back to what it was. We had 3.5 months of freedom between "fully vaccinated" and not masking to my cancer diagnosis. I wish we had traveled more than we did during that window.

Everyone else not excepted will be permanently furloughed. They may eventually pay excepted employees but that’s about it.

I get where this kind of dooming comes from, but the logistics of this scenario are unworkable. While furloughed, I have health insurance (premiums due when we reopen), and I am accruing time toward retirement and leave that needs to be paid out when I quit, and the tax situation is going to be a mess. It is way cleaner to RIF me and pay severance than to deal with all that.

Also, when you say "bring certain functions back online" that means paying excepted employees. People don't work indefinitely for free.

Again, I get it, but there are enough bad things happening without inventing scenarios.

I dont think it's far fetched or invented. Trump does not care that you were accruing time for retirement. You'll just never get that paycheck or time and will need to collectively sue if its important to you. Trump doesn't care about that, you are free to use your time and resources. What will matter is who from congress is willing to stand up to him and support you.
