You need to get away from this place for a while. it's affecting your mental health. |
You're afraid of PP because she's speaking the truth. Perhaps you're the one who needs a break? |
I disagree with PP that suggested this is a modern phenomenon….history has always had periods like this — think of the Salem Witxh Trials or the Know Nothjng Party, the kKK or the Nazi party. My conclusion is that, although I don’t ageee with HRC on a lot, she was right that there is a small percentage of people who are just deplorable. 10-15% is probably right. And in periods of time, they are able to gather other more reasonable people into a coalition with them, sometimes due to very reasonable things like high inflation (which is what drove the rise of the Nazi party in Germany) and then those people rationalize some really dumb or awful things based on their perception of who will help them on those issues. It is depressing because most of these people are very misguided.
I don’t think I still know any Trump voters—I knew several in 2016 but only one in 2020 after I became clear that Trump’s policy goals are always overridden by his narcissism and chaos., and lack of any real ability to run anything. The one person I know who is still a Trump voter is very highly educated (scientist) but from an old southern rich family and has really always been low key racist and crazy opposed to government regulation — she’s just generally a difficult person who has some good points (she’s always the first to jump in with helping clean up after dinner, loves her dogs), but is the kind of person everyone avoids talking to because she’s argumentative and just mean, even to family. |
This is not new. We’ve always had a minority of fascists who hate America here. Listen to Rachel Maddow’s Ultra podcast about senators in the 30s and 40s who were actively working with Nazis to spread propaganda to the US and our military. Read about a group called America First from that period.
Same traitors, different generation. Some of them are willingly deplorable. Some have been conned. |
Nobody buys that any longer as reps are the party that want everify. |
Oopsie. All republicans are: trolls russian trolls deplorable racist bigoted stupid/ignorant Hitler All of them. All democrats are: definitely not ever trolls kind caring peaceful not racist not bigoted intelligent, intellectual This is just reality. Accept it and preach it. Anyone who disagrees is likely Hitler. |
Yes, all republicans are Hitler worshipping Nazis. Bush II was the return of Hitler. Trump is Hitler 2.0. |
Uneducated people own big boats? Fascinating. Tell us more about this, please. |
They do in the Midwest. Trade workers have a lot of boats in my flyover state. |
Same here. I've been called a troll and called names/cursed at for my posts. Ironically, it's only the LWNJ Dems who use foul language on DCUM. |
You and this way of thinking are what's wrong with our society. You want an autocratic society where everyone blindly follows everything you believe in. You are living in lala land. So I will proudly denounce both parties because you've both lost your freaking minds. |
If you're in a flyover state, why are you posting on a blog for DC moms and dads? |
DP. It was formerly a free country. |
Didn’t you get the memo? The internet is worldwide. I’m happy to see different perspectives here. Welcome! |
Well....MAGA didn't just show up out of nowhere....it's been brewing for a long time. But don't confuse MAGA with either Republican or Conservative which everyone seems to do. Also...make American great again...means different things to different people. I feel more and more politically homeless nowadays. There are fringe extremists who have taken over both parties. I was never an extremist and find extremism deplorable. I also can't stand hypocrisy. We as a society have become too focused on extremism - everything has to be black or white. Well....that's not how real life works. There are many shades of gray!! And until both sides are willing to accept that, I'm honestly thinking about sitting this election out. Repeat..."thinking about" -- I look forward to watching the debates. Let's see how they go. I'm a conservative leaning on voting for Harris but there's only 1 single issue making me vote for Harris. I hate voting based on only 1 issue. |
