Dog eating is not funny. Bad drivers jokes instead?

Not funny TO YOU.

Very funny to this friend group.

And if you're comfortable with bad driving jokes but not with dog-eating jokes, then you're really not that much different than these boys; its only a question of scale

And scale is important. Tropes that trade on the weirdness and foreignness of Asians are more insidious than jokes about driving skills. If all the kids like these jokes, ok fine. But the fact that you as the adult seem to revel in their freedom to make race-based jokes is very curious. Do you wish you could make racist jokes with impunity?

Asians are like 60% of the world population. Why are they acting so put upon? I thought punching up was always ok?

Are you really this dense? Asians are like 2 percent of Americans. We are talking about American kids. The nation has a history of excluding Asians for being weirdo foreigners. White people making Asian jokes is not punching up. If you think so then you need a history lesson.

They are not 2% in every area. Or in schools. White kids are minority in schools.

My kids are in Blair. It’s 77% minority. They are all ragging on each other.

But the PP was using world population as evidence that Asians shouldn’t be offended by dog-eating jokes. If you think white kids at Blair are so put upon that they feel the need to “punch up” at Asians, then I guess I will have to take your word for it, as I don’t know that community. I just know that I still feel like a minority and am offended by dog-eating jokes. And I don’t wish for a world where people always call me dog-eater and I just laugh because I’m not a minority. I wish for a world where people don’t take my race into account when making fun of me.
.

You are not a victim stop trying to claim victim status.

You don’t know anything about me. I have been the victim of hate speech and race-based sexual assault. Not all Asians have the same experience. You would know that if your social circle were as diverse as you claim.

So here’s the deal. You don’t like these kinds of comments - so you say to the person making them “please stop. I don’t like these comments.” What you don’t do is tell EVERYONE making these comments that they need to stop. Because some people aren’t offended by them and find them funny. You don’t get to set the standard that what works for you must work for everyone else.

Neither do you.

It is just too on the nose.

If you’re following this thread it was an AA kid who made the dog comment.

I'm talking about the pp who insulted someone who stated they are asian and have been the victim of race based crimes. This pp obviously thinks these jokes are NBD, and then also show how callous and racist they really are in their reply to this poster. But yet they don't think they are racist for telling racist jokes and making fun of a victim of race based crimes... Like, I can't get over the disconnect these people have. But yes. Racists gon racist, it's been literally proven in this thread multiple times.

Ok. Stop centering yourself. Times have changed.

He’s getting it from the Discord gaming groups that are targeted by bad actors looking to sow racial dissent. Right wing, hostile foreign nation and/or scammers have been targeting adolescent males for several years.

Saying Americans aren't independently racist is racist.

I never told those Blair kids to stop making fun of each other. I was just responding to the person saying that I'm not a victim. And I was responding to the parent of the Blair kids who said that liberal adults should wish for a post-racial world where everyone is like his kids who make fun of each other's race. I disagree.

OP 100% has been sock puppeting in this thread. Likely as one of the racists. Trolls like to start the convo and then stir the pot.

This bold claim should be backed up by investigation by Jeff. Put up or shut up.

This thread is 12 pages long and I believe there hasn't yet been one non white person who said that they were ok with their friends making fun of their race growing up even if they laughed and went along with it at the time.

But sure keeping on with the jokes...

In the example of the "dog" as food to the Asian kid, the comment was made by an AA friend. Do you think the non white people are going to school each other on racism now? Really?

I’m guessing there aren’t enough non whites on this site to make a case either way

At least 2 people have said they were not okay with it. But I guess you don't want to listen.

You are correct. But as other people have pointed out, this is about the current generation of tweens and teens feels about it. Not how YOU felt about it 30 years ago.

Like I said before, this is what a post-racial world looks like for teenagers. This is why we chose to live in MoCo, why choose public schools, and we want encourage a diverse friend group.
