I would rather have the protections of Roe, but the Republicans demagogued this issue for decades. So if this where we are, this is where we are. I want this completely out of politicians hands and placed in the doctor’s office with the patient. The end. |
Sure. That’s the point. They are liars. They lie about the science. They lie about the data. They lie about the laws they write. They lie about the consequences of their ignorant decisions. They lie about giving the power to states. They lie about letting each state’s citizens decide. They lie about public opinion supporting women’s health. And most of all they lie about caring about babies, children, and women. |
+1 The ability to decide what happens to your own body is like the key point of liberty. Without that, women are enslaved. This is not something that Republicans should be able to lie about but they do and will continue to do so as a mass media that is beholden to Republican viewpoints will not meaningfully tell the truth. |
The simplest explanation for the above is that you’re defining any information at odds with your world view as a “lie”. |
Is it a lie that republicans say Americans don’t support choice when the majority do? Is it a lie that republicans have tried to block states amendments on ballots in every state that’s voted on the issue? Republicans are lying about maternal mortality rates post Roe. They’re lying about women getting exceptions for rape, incest, health, and now even life of the mother. All of these lie have been exposed many times over on this thread and the other Roe thread. Your ignorance is inexcusable but entirely predictable. But it doesn’t matter, “ women are not without electoral or political power” November is coming. |
You understand that women don’t get to advanced stages of pregnancy, then suddenly change their minds about having a baby, right? The vast majority of abortions happening after roughly 18-20 weeks or so are due to fatal fetal anomalies or health/life of the mother. This business that forced-brothers cooked up (and Trump very happily parrots) regarding women terminating up to and “after” the moment of birth is a disgusting scare-tactic and isn’t actually A Thing. Good Lord, have some of you really gone your entire lives without knowing a woman who received devastating news about her pregnancy? How very fortunate for you. |
Does voting on who can control my body freak me out? Yes. |
Good news! If the GOP wins and gets to accomplish all their Project 2025 goals and gets to ban abortion and birth control and kicks out all the brown people (even the ones who voted for the Republican Party), women won’t get to vote anymore! |
I sincerely hope you or someone you care about finds themselves in a situation where you “just” have to fly across the country to get a medical procedure on a doomed pregnancy, spending money you don’t have, and experience antiabortionist extremists screaming at you in your state of grief. It’s the only way absolutists like you will ever recognize the trauma of difficult pregnancies. —one who knows PS FU |
No one ever thinks that they will need an abortion, until they do. |
Agree. You need to get a clue. Think through each item on this list. |
We have a clue. Many of us are quite familiar with that entire list either personally or via a family member or friend. |
dp.. are any of you aware of or experienced life threatening or nonviable pregnancies ? I have no personal experience with either, but I can sympathize with women who have such issues. My cousin went through it. Very much wanted baby but the baby had such abnormalities that the baby would not have survived. This was around the 20 week mark. They were devastated. She got an abortion, and got pregnant again. Healthy baby who is now about 6mo old. Very adorable. I got to hold him. |
If that really happens, you don't think chaos would occur? |
The bloody chaos will occur in hospital parking lots and ignored by the media. No one is coming to save us once this ship sails. Vote in November, or women can get used to second class citizenship for a generation. |
