
No, I would not consider Sidwell a religious school. Sidwell is much less religious than the Cathedral schools, and those are visibly less religious than local Catholic schools or Jewish schools. Cathedral schools and SSSAS often are referred to on DCUM as being "religion light" - meaning not very religious. |
It is a Quaker school. They root the academics, the service and yes, Quaker Meetting/daily testimony through silence as part of the curriculum.
If you don't want that, don't apply. GDS, Potomac and Maret are non-denominational. Most of the rest of the schools are rooted in some form of Christianity. |
