No chance they allow that to happen. |
Odd that every time this school is discussed, one persons name is praised to the hilt. |
We decided on St. Patrick’s last year and love the school. It’s a wonderful community. My children love it. We moved to the area from out of state and my children visited NPS, Washington Episcopal, and Norwood. To be honest we found great aspects at all of these schools. We are happy with our choice. |
Love NPS. Chose it over 4 others in the area. |
I had one child who went to NPS and one who went St. Patrick’s. AMA |
Which do you like best? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each school? |
Why one child to each? |
Do either have a spring open house? |
Have a recent St. Patrick’s graduate. We loved the school. We are now at GDS. Mr. Brophy to GDS as the new atheltic director is what we are hearing. We have our fingers crossed.
We of course would be sad for St. Patrick’s. That’s a major loss. The rest of the PE team leaves a lot to be desired. I am not sure the female they hired last year even works at the school. Never coached and was absent most of last year according to DD. They would still have the other male teacher who at least coached my daughters and was part of the community. |
The female PE teacher? We were told in her announcement hire she would be coaching female athletes at St. Patrick’s and was a basketball coach. My high school daughters school was playing St. Stephen/St. Agnes this season in basketball and who is coaching them the St. Patrick’s PE teacher. This makes zero sense to me. They need to hold onto Coach Brophy. What a disaster. |
My child has been at St. Pats since preschool. We did not consider NPS because we were moving here at the time and I didn’t notice it was there.
The education is excellent. Socially, it’s in DC, so it’s what you’d expect. Middle School has been a pleasant surprise. I know that feels far away, but if you stay here and your kid lasts that long, it’s really a fantastic program. |
They didn’t challenge everyone equitably, that’s true, but that is just what happens in the elementary years. There are a few teachers that don’t like boys, but they are fairly well contained from my experience. The lower school head does a great job at this. The pandemic lead to crazy literally everywhere. Read the news. In other news, St. Pats is a real private school in a real city… |
I haven’t heard the rumor about Mr. Brophy but if it’s true, good for him. He’s earned a promotion.
They will find a great person to replace him. That what is supposed to happen, precious snowflakes. The school doesn’t own him. |
That’s the problem they won’t. We have been at the school for multiple kids and years. They have done a poor job in hiring in that department in the past. The last hire has been a PE teacher who coaches more at the school she came from. They need to hold onto Mr. Brophy. 😱😱😱 |
I don’t have romantic crushes on all the PE teachers so I don’t remember all their names, but I’ve had a kid at St. Ps for ages too, and my child has had several great PE teachers, inclusive of Mr. Brophy. He was there before the pandemic which is why I remember his name. If you have haven’t been happy with them, hire a personal trainer for your kid. They are all over the place. |
