BBT question

Anonymous
I have just started charting (less than a week). Since I started sleeping with a thermometer on my bedside table, I have been waking up through the night and around 2 hours before before my alarm goes off. I'm able to fall back asleep but am concerned that the temperature I measure two hours later at 6 am is not really an accurate BBT. On the second night, I stuck the thermometer in my mouth thinking it was time to get up....but it was only 1 am! Did anybody else have these issues when they started?

You'll get used to it. Plus, you don't have to be perfect for the entire month - just from a few days after your period ends until when you're sure that you've ovulated, so about 2 weeks. (This month, I started temping every other day once I was sure that I ovulated because I wanted to make sure my temps stay up, e.g. that my progesterone level was okay, but I didn't want to worry about waking up at the same time every morning.

Also, if you're not really wide awake, getting up etc, your temperature should be pretty accurate (I often woke up before my alarm too but my charting looked pretty accurate - did it for several months)

I charted for about a year. The PPs are right. As long as you're not wide awake and walking around you'll be fine. Once you're more comfortable with it you'll get to know your patterns of waking.

Good luck!
