You live in Takoma Park. You hate being called a hipster but know deep down that you are one.

Does the perception change if the family is Jewish?

You always planned on naming your first born son after your beloved grandfather but now are secretly questioning this decision because you hate that it has become a trendy hipster name.

You are in your late 30s.You grew up in Oradell, NJ, attended Oradell Public School for K-6, Dwight Englewood for middle & high school,Wesleyan for ungergrad & Columbia for law school before moving to DC.You now live in Chevy Chase, MD & are a lawyer married to a 47-year-old surgeon you met through JDate. Little Ezra has a nanny & will start preschool at Temple Sinai next fall. You are hoping for admission to Sidwell Friends in a couple of years. You are also hoping to give Ezra a sibling soon, preferably a sister, & are thinking of becoming a SAHM once the new baby is born.

This is fantastic. Well done!

Thanks

Was I close, Ezra's mom?

Not from NJ, and DH and I didn't meat on JDate. Not going to share every detail, but DH and I did meet at a Jewish event, and I am really annoyed that Ezra has become a popular name with the hipsters (and evangelicals, for that matter). The careers aren't that far afield either.

Ezra's a great name -- even if it is a tad trendy now!

You regret your firstborn's name and wish you could go back in time and change it to Lennyn.

Your husband is in sales, but is just a little bummed that he's not a rock star. He plays in a classic rock cover band on the weekend. You met in a bar after one of his shows. You let him name the kids after his music heros and favorite songs, until the last one. It was right after your mom passed, so you insisted on name her Evelyn. He's a good guy, makes decent money, is still hot, you don't regret the names at all.

You secretly veto playdates with children who insist on calling your kids Sam and Cathy.

Ha! Sam or Sammy is just fine, but anything other than Catherine gets shut down.

You are Irish Catholic. You were really hoping Luke was a girl & only wanted a fourth child because he wasn't.You were thrilled when Caitlin was a girl & named her Caitlin because that has been your favorite girl's name since you were a teenager.

Alexandra was an accident. You didn't even realize you were pregnant until you were in your second trimester -- you honestly thought it was menopause! You had severe PPD after she was born & let your husband choose her name without your input. He named her after his prep school rugby buddy, Alexander, who died tragically in a car accident their senior year. If you had been in a better frame of mind, you would've insisted on Maeve or Bridget.Or Molly or Shannon. Oh well!

We named our son Eric. Wanted something short to go with our longer last name and something that's been around a while (not a "new" boys name).

Haha, love it! DH works for the government, I am a lawyer, but am a bit of a classic rock junkie, and did date a lot of "musicians." DH is not musical at all, my mom is still alive, Evelyn is not a family name, just loved it and didn't have any other classic rock names I liked. You're right though, DH is a good guy, makes good money, and is still pretty hot. I also don't regret the names.

You met your DH while both doing PhD work on the Gunpowder Empires (you studied the Mughals, he wrote on the Safavids). After obtaining your degrees, you moved to DC where you got a job working at the Sackler. Your DH is still looking for a teaching position, but thus far has only been able to find occasional work as an adjunct. You live in Arlington, and teach belly dancing at Saffron to help make ends meet. Madelaine enjoys swimming while Jack is involved in soccer.

You really wanted to name your sun Gunnar. In fact, you'd been dreaming of it since the halcyon days of your youth, when a Nelson poster adorned your room. Your DH vetoed this totally awesome name pick, but the joke was on him! You had twin boys named Gavin and Connor, in an oh-so-subtle homage to your favorite hair band singer. If you have another DS, he will be Matthew.
