Will Negative Press Impact Applications/Admissions?

Really? What a naive and fragile little teacup you are. We Jews have been taking crap everywhere we've gone for thousands of years. Why would it stop now? I prefer this incident to liberal college campuses pushing BDS on students who don't know any better.

And who expects perfection in any community anyway? Inappropriate behavior like anti-Semitic jokes happen in every community, especially ones filled with teenagers. What matters is how the community responds to that inappropriate behavior. STA responded forcefully but thoughtfully. You bringing it up to bash STA makes you look bad, not the STA community.

I'm not a STA parents but I agree. Yours is a very reasonable post & approach. I think you're absolutely right that even in strong communities (school or otherwise) with many good, well-intentioned people and ethical values being modeled and taught, things happen and it's the response of the community and the leadership that is important.

How about “we will support you, in the highly likely event you’re assaulted, even if you were breaking the rules and drinking or using drugs”? How about “I will be there for you, or your friend, not with judgment but support, and we will figure out if you want to speak up or not together”?

When I was raped in college, those are things that might have lead to me telling my mom. Instead she still doesn’t know today. Because she’s like you PP. Blames women for not wanting to tear their lives apart.

Wow, not sure it's fair for others to jump on PP for defending herself when she was attacked as a person and parent. Sure she could have said "sorry to hear about your circumstances" (or something more eloquent and kind) but this response ignores the original post and was really harsh.

They expect their largest attendance ever at this year’s open house. After all, how many schools can boast two sitting SCOTUS justices along current Federal Reserve Chair, along with NFL and MLB executives, countless government/business/military leaders, Medal of Honor, Emmy Award, Pulitzer Prize and Olympic gold medal recipients, and the creator of modern chemotherapy?

You have learned nothing from this ordeal. Nothing.

We learned that Prep has produced plenty of successful graduates.

Keep the bragging up about a high school and another much deserved humiliating smack down will be coming your way.
Count on it.

Yes. As even more Prep graduates go onto successful and prominent careers, it will be very humiliating.

It was, but it obviously came from a place of intense, personal pain, and you don't hit back or pour salt in the wound under those circumstances. You take the high ground and acknowledge the pain.

Yes, only the boys who go to this high school are qualified to do anything because ‘they’ve decided that this is so’ and ‘they belong to the best country clubs’

No one else even exists in comparison. .

My guess is that the numbers of applicants to Prep and Holton won't change, but the political leanings of the applicants will.

I know the parents of three girls at Holton whose daughters are happy there now but who are very unhappy with the school's current "believe ALL women!" push which is facially pro-woman but they see as is just liberal bias. I think many fewer Catholics will apply to Holton this year.

As for Prep, it is the poster child for conservative male entitlement right now, and as such I think many liberal parents will not want their liberal friends to see that "GP" sticker on their Prius.

I don't think other area schools will be affected at all. The commenters above who do seem to be doing so out of wishful thinking against a school or group of schools that they personally dislike.

The school is not pushing believe all woman. The school is allowing the girls to feel empowered.

Funny I heard students were upset there wasn’t enough “believe all women”

I think the head of school handled it fairly while keeping it appropriate to the girls to feel strong.

My daughter is at another girls school but I don’t think Holton will have any trouble getting many applicants. I was proud of Holton and how they stood by their alum. I think my daughters school and community would do the same. Women need to stand with women.

I’m proud of the Damascus Jv football high school boys for speaking about being raped/assaulted by other boys. Cases like this have helped people find the strength to report assaults to the police which is a big advance. No one wants to be assaulted and it’s shocking that even with all of the publicity that cases like this have received people will still try to get away with it.

Any sense whether colleges treat Prep any differently this admissions season?
