Ladies, are you heavier than your mother?

Anonymous
No. My mother was always tall, slender, and in great shape (thanks to Jane Fonda), from teen and through adulthood She still is for the most part, just had the normal mid section thickening, but not at all overweight. She pretty much ate whatever she wanted too. Heathy for the most part, but plenty of indulgences too.

I weight less, but also got the “fat gene” from other side of family so I have to be very careful about what I eat and I exercise a lot. I’m shorter too though. It I would say we have very similar figures, mine is just harder to maintain than it was for her.

The mothers were all in their late 60s to early 70s. Funny enough, the elderly women were doing all the cooking. All of the daughters worked outside, but these older women worked when they were younger too. The older women each had had more kids than their daughters.
Not sure what has changed in families, but this was dramatic. I'm saying like 50- 100 pound difference in weight in all cases.
One woman joked about it and said that her goal was to get to her moms weight.

Oh good. Another fat-hating post.

I have always been too heavy for my mother, since my teens, when she offered my $1000 to lose 20 pounds even though I was then at a perfectly healthy weight. She's never had to actively diet or exercise to stay thin. She eats what she wants and would never give a thought to eating a cheeseburger if she wanted one while I have actual anxiety if a I choose that for lunch.

So I kind of hate this post.

I am heavier than my mom, and four inches taller.

Yes. My mom has always been very slender without trying (5'6" and around 110-115 lbs). I'm an inch taller and currently around 150 post-baby but aiming for 135.

I thought this too.

No only heavy, but she used the term "obese"

Why did you dig up this 6 year old thread?

I am heavier. My mother is shorter and had to go on a special diet for a health condition so she has lost weight over the last few years. At one time, we were about the same size. People are just generally heavier now.

No. But she thinks I am. Not kidding. She’s got 50lbs on me.

I am heavier but also seven inches taller. She was petite. If she hadn’t grown up dirt poor and chronically undernourished, I bet she would have been taller.

Yes, chemotherapy has reduced my mother to 94lbs, thank you for asking.

My 87 year old mom weighs 120 lbs and has for decades.

We have entirely different figures but I weigh about 8 pounds more.

I do not own a scale and don’t weigh myself likely due to my own ED past directly linked to being raised by a woman obsessed with her appearance and absolute intolerance of weight gain.

Yes, but my mom has smoked her whole adult life and rarely eats.

My mom and I have eerily similar body types but I am two dress sizes smaller (ish).

Why do you care, OP? Just in a judgmental streak?

10 is obese? Are you in treatment for that eating disorder?
