Who knows, but his reputation as the son of an Admiral that graduated last in his class and caused a very deadly incident that he was not punished for sickens many who served.

I am a veteran I hate what he has done HOWEVER that does not change history! The man was held is a horrid POW camp for 5+years, refused to be released until all the men were released and bears the pain of his POW injuries to this day (he hasn't been able to raise his arms above his head since Viet Nam).

I get that we are angry however we do ourselves no good in denying what a fellow soldier did during the war because we don't like what he has done since the war.

WHAT FREE PASS?! You think it is a "free pass" to accurately and truthfully describe a man's past?!

A hero during the war remains a "hero during the war" regardless of what he's done since the war. You cannot change a man's history! What he did in that POW camp was undeniably heroic. I am a Vet and a Democrat and I am not going to lie about a man's past to justify my feelings about him in the present!!!

As I said, I have never once voted for the man - but will always consider him a hero during the war.

Now he had used his Service to become powerful and wealthy, and is trying to screw the average Vet constantly.

Nobody denies his Service record.

But his record should not keep him from honest accounting of his Senate record, votes, etc.

Can a war Vet do whatever he or she wished unaccountably?

By your logic, every Congressional Medal of Honor should be revoked, because they were merely doing "tough duty."

One has to remember at the time, people thought less of military personnel who were captured and held prisoner. There was no training or preparation and it was shameful for the individual. This attitude has changed. I think Trump was playing to the older generation.
McCain's conduct will prisoner was exceptional, not all POW's can say that....but I think just returning home is a great outcome.
