Are you relieved to be done with MCPS?

Because most of the people posting here are not MCPS parents. They are most trolls, private schools parents, other jurisdictions wannabes.
MCPS is the big Dog in the area, and everybody loves to hate on the big Dog.

Lol no

I am an MCPS parent and everyone I talk to IRL who currently has kids in MCPS is either really frustrated or purposefully tuned out because following the terrible decision making of the Superintendent and the BOE is stressful and infuriating and people don't have time for that so they just deal with it and quietly hire tutors

I think it's because MCPS used to be much better, but it's been going downhill steadily for many years. We moved here for the schools, but, now I'm supper happy to be done with MCPS.

What makes you say that? ThePS and FCPS parents have the same complaints. They just don’t spend as much time posting about it as the small group of MCPS. We keep telling you DCUM is not reality for most of MCPS.

Parents by themselves cannot force MCPS to put their kids in compacted math when they shouldn't be, but MCPS caves to their demands and now they are getting rid of compacted math instead of setting up a rigorous process for deciding which kids need compacted math. And so it goes.

Yep they fill up a class with 40 students but at least 20 should be placed on the on-track math class.Math experience ruined for the 20 that should be in compact math or a higher math level.

Right, so there was no other choice but to dismantle accelerated math entirely. NO OTHER OPTION.

This is why people are upset with MCPS. Instead of making improvements based on data (like figuring out how to identify those kids who really should be in accelerated math and improving on/off ramps) they throw the whole thing out and start something new that they have no idea how to implement. Right after they did the same thing with ELA and it went very badly. It truly boggles the mind

The 5 people you know IRL are not the majority of MoCo parents. Most are happy with MCPS.

If you look at the data from the school climate survey from 2023-24, only small minorities of parents have MCPS an A. Most gave it a B or a C. obviously, they stopped asking that question in subsequent years.
