What about Tuesday?

Oh goody. Will they blame the people of MoCo for not shoveling adequately again? Because it's obvious that no school district anywhere can open if there's ice on a single sidewalk.

Yes the blame shifting did not escape me in yesterday's message. Way to get the parents on your side, MCPS-

MCPS has the school district personality of a lazy, surly teenager. Doesn't include more than 1 snow day in the calendar. Refuses to do the virtual learning plan for emergency weather that it said it would do in 2024. And then blames the MoCo community for inadequately shoveling.

An apology will go down better than language like the one from yesterday, where they had to send another message clarifying what their first message meant. MCPS, admit it, own it.

Shame on you. You Mad Mommies of MoCo are really insane.

If even one child's life was spared because of today's decision, it was worth it.

You lunatic. It's only school. They can make it up.

Go take your meds and stay off DCUM.

No. YOU get off. Adults are talking. Stop being such a ridiculous Mad Mommy of MoCo.

It's nuts that MCPS hasn't announced anything yet. I get that it's probably that they want to open but don't feel confident it's safe yet, but at least send out a darn email at 2 or 3 saying "we'll let you know sometime this evening" rather than us expecting something at 3-4 and still waiting.

Because everyone knows our children will all die if their feet touch an icy sidewalk and it will make MCPS feel better about being forced to open when it would rather stay closed til mid-March.

Mad Mommy of MoCo is Big Mad. And a total rancid twat, as usual. Mad Mommy of MoCo hates children.

Yes, anyone who wants to open schools 7 days after a storm while it's bright and sunny day hates children and wants them dead from a falling icicle to the head. All the school districts in the area that operated today--DCPS, ACPS, HoCo, Baltimore, Falls Church, Loudoun County, Alexandria-- they are full of parents who hate their children so much they made them attend school!

FCPS opens tomorrow. It too hates all children. EVERYONE hates children except for MCPS.

Open and on time Tuesday.

Today was the ideal time too since it warmed up some and stuff softened. I spent an hour improving our driveway this afternoon. Tomorrow is another potential opportunity before the temps go back down.

Not surprised at all. As far as I know, there is no dialogue about snow removal services between the County and the MCPS Central Office, which there should be. For the county, standards of snow removal have been met. For the school, they haven't. It's on the school system to demand additional assistance from the county, and apparently, they either have not done so, or have not been able to access them. More transparency is needed in their dealings. I suspect neither wants the extra snow removal to come from their budget!

Seems like open on time right?

Hoisted on their own petard with their gung-ho messaging from yesterday. They want to close, but they can't because all the other schools are opening.

No. Delay or closure.

I actually think it means this wasn’t straightforward.

I think it means they are making their decision based on what neighboring jurisdictions decide. I think Fairfax just announced 2 hour delay. PGCPS has not yet announced.

FCPS announced hours ago.

Yes they're open tomorrow with a 2 hr delay. It's going to be embarassing if MCPS is closed tomorrow. Eight days after a storm. Smh.

Odds are for a delayed opening for MCPS. But they're trying to come up with ways to justify it - that's what taking all that time. The about-face!

The message yesterday was so shocking to me: I thought they were really boxing themselves in. What idiots. At some point this week they will need to open, and the conditions will still be the same.

People will just be happy to see them open. They'll largely ignore justifying why they closed today.

So announcement means open on time?

It doesn’t take a lot of guts to say that they’re monitoring the situation, and hoping to start on time, but will make a final decision by [time]. Or that they’re hoping for a two hour delayed opening, but will make a final decision by [time]. Taking this long to say anything makes me think they’re seriously contemplating staying closed.

I don’t think no announcement is news. If they are on time, they will announce that. I personally don’t see that being the outcome.
