Did they send it to the government email addresses? Because that's what happened in another Department.

It is OK to check government email for purposes of seeing if the government has reopened. It is OK for the government to ask you to do that. That is not an issue.

You don't have the laptop, you don't have access to the email. It's OK to realize this.

We were told we could login to check email throughout the furlough as they would be sending RIF notices. I checked once a week.

They need to forlough retired govt workers. Cut off their fat pension checks next and we really could get stuff done.

I was shocked to see that I had my full balance of transit benefits (WMATA) for November. I was fully expecting that the benefit would not be resumed until December.

My DH’s field office internet contract lapsed during the shutdown. The person who would handle that was RIF’d during the shutdown.

Hope she’s coming back - not just for the internet of course but I hope they’re all coming back.

All of our severs are down..not unexpected but frustrating not to be able to jump back in

Considering that not a lot of IT security is going on, it's probably a good thing that servers are down.

Do federal employees contribute to their pensions?
Under FERS, employees contribute between . 8% and 4.4% of their pay to the CSRDF and the government contributes between 14.2% and 16%. The change from the CSRS to FERS came in the Federal Employee's Retirement System Act of 1986 which set up FERS as a path for retirement with Social Security.

Thank you. I was hoping for Monday.

Why??? Why must the government be shut down even longer, just because you don't want to go back into work this week?? I have been 1000% on the side of the fed workers and think this entire shutdown has been ridiculous, but after not being at work for a month, now saying "well I hope we can just get until next week at this point" sounds egregious. People are suffering because the government is closed- not just the government employees, but those who depend on their services and have not been able to access them.

+1. I am beginning to question my loyalties.
