| My DS is a freshman at a “second tier” school in VA. Thriving with friends. Got into the clubs he wants. Grades are good, but science is harder than he expected. Has gotten great networking opportunities. |
| No. Surviving engineering, yes yes, but "enjoy" is definitely not the word. |
Congrats, PP!! I spent 5 years in graduate school at Davis. Such a safe and relaxing place for college kids. Wonderful and spacious campus, and biking everywhere!! Nice weather too. |

Sophomore Engineering at UMich.
Loving it and thriving. Been on Dean’s List past two semesters. Member of Engineering Honor Society. Attends football and ice hockey games. Lives off campus in rental home. Has friends in fraternities and sororities, but no interest in Greek life. Goes to the frat parties and sorority formals though. |
Frat party doormen generally let in any girl(s), but limit entrance by boys to a specific list, because the higher ratio of girls increases the chances for the frat brothers to score a random hookup with a drunk college girl. |
| Yes. Freshman in nyc. Taking advantage of all the things and really enjoying |
| My Freshman at UMDCP is having an excellent year! She goes on cool trips with her Scholar’s program and has joined some other groups. She has all A’s and is set to make the dean’s list. She also got invited to senior research groups. She is on cloud nine! |
Your son made an independent choice that is good for him. Congratulations! Having lived in Davis, and now living in Sacramento, I understand why he would find Davis boring. Has he spent anytime in midtown Sacramento? A lot of young people live there. The Amtrak from Davis to the Bay enables kids to spent the weekend there. Recall the lines of kids getting on the train Thursday and Friday afternoon to go home. |

Another freshman DS in engineering at UMd. Coming from an academically weaker high school, had a bit of a wake-up call initially but 2 months in has found his groove academically. Enjoys his engineering classes - all project based - quite a bit.
His residential honors college has been great - small cohort to pal around with and bc this honors college is 2 yrs, they will all live together again next year. Kid is rock climbing, playing squash, biking to classes, going into DC, eating tons of good food (loves the food). Really just having a blast socially and academically. Strongly recommend doing one of the specialized honors colleges at UMd if an option. |
From where did he get in (state and what part of the state)? |
| Now that they are home, what are you hearing? Are they enjoying college ? |
