I’d argue the 40 something unfriendly mom is more a suburban UMC phenomenon. Truly wealthy women have fun and don’t need to act snobby. |
| I hate people and don’t want yo encourage you to talk to me. You’ll get a distracted smile and a hi at best. |
| I think the main people who do this are grown up mean girls who still think life is a competition and don’t want to associate with you in case you are not in the right crowd. I rarely get this reception when I am wearing full makeup and a nice outfit and probably sending signals I’m successful and have some money. I don’t think it happens a lot when I’m WAH and wearing no makeup with my hair natural and I’m in leggings. I just shrug and move on. Can you imagine still thinking like that in your 40s? |
This is demonstrably not true. There are a-holes at all income levels. |
Just another way in which DC is inferior. |
THIS! |
They are not pretending. They don't want to interact with you. You don't have to understand just accept it and move on. |
These women indeed need nothing until DH runs off with a young co-worker and their social circles dissolve. Then they suddenly hit the B-list. |
Everyone is nicer to pretty people. |
It’s “public transportation” isn’t it? Idiot. |
| I suspect because many people here are self-important and stuck up. I don't care, I keep putting it out there, and have had it click with a few people, nice enough conversations with a few others. |
| I think some of you watch too many cheesy soap operas about how rich people supposedly act as if there’s some kind of spell that happens at a certain income that controls their behavior. |
| I like my men incompetent |
What a crazy post. I don't ride the subway because I love to drive but I used to use metro all the time before I had a car. No rich and famous people ride metro. Why would they? Driving is much more convenient. This isn't NY. |
The PP said "Someday they'll be sorry when they need something." They will never need something from you. |
