This group should have been a lock-in for Harris. What is the explanation for why such a large percentage of young women voted for Trump?

I sincerely hope that this vote bites them all in the uterus.

You don't want to listen to the explanations - denial denial denial.

What are the issues that attracted them to Trump?

Have a Gen Z DD and I honestly don't know if she voted for Trump, but here's the thing...it's not "one issue" and it's not that they were attracted to "Trump" the person. The DNC continues with denial denial denial. Below are my GenZ DD's views:

Perhaps not 100% stop but definitely reduce military spending (billions!) to Israel and other countries without accountability. Fix the many issues in the US first - put American citizens first.

Stop with the cultural/identity wars. She respects LGBTQ+ but seriously....rewriting/redoing movies and changing characters is getting ridiculous - if you want to be so inclusive create new stories, create new princesses. Don't go back and change things. Also she agreed that the whole gender identity education in schools is going too far and does not at all belong in elementary schools.

Not sure how she feels about deportation, but she does see schools overpopulated and resources stretched.

She does see the increase in crime, first hand! You know...the shoplifting/theft crimes that are not reported at all and therefore don't count in the statistics when DNC says crime is down, how convenient.

My Gen Z High School kid and her friends were rooting for Trump, for these same reasons, even though most of them can't vote yet. The abortion issue was not on the top of their mind. They're at MCPS (and no, not at Damascus or Poolesville or a W school). I know Montgomery County is solid blue but many people I know flipped and voted Republican this year.

All three of my teens were hoping for a Trump win, and most of their friends were as well. Particularly the boys. It is now “cool” to be a Trump supporter- again, especially among the boys. We live in a blue area of a swing state, UMC suburban public school. I posted about this a few weeks ago on another thread and a few moms has similar stories.

Dems should take note.

Teens always want to rebel. Like it or not, the right became the rebellious and the left the establishment.

When I was a teen/young adult- the republicans were the establishment party and the “no fun” crowd. Lots of Christian Right type stuff was the focus- preachy finger wagging busybodies complaining about unwed mothers, cursing, gays, marijuana, “prayer in schools” and whatnot. And pro war. I wanted nothing to do with them and most other young people did not either. It was the party of the grandparents and extremist Christians mostly.

These kids have grown up with the opposite- preaching finger wagging busybodies preaching endlessly about race, gender, incorrect language (cancel culture), cancelling milestones and pushing masks for years during COVID, and more. Marijuana and gay marriage are no longer up for any debate (hooray) and the Republican Party has at least conceded the abortion issue to the states. The loudest D’s (and the ones setting the agenda) are middle aged + white women (often busybody hall monitor types- the type that become that annoying lady from HR) and a lack of traditionally masculine guys (not sure how to more politely state that one).

I don’t know how Dems fix this in the near term, but the pendulum is likely to swing back again if some efforts are made.

You do realize there are other human rights issues going on around the world, including in Ukraine. Do not care about the slaughter of those people? Because that is what a trump presidency gives you

No new wars were started on Trump’s watch so not sure where you’re getting that idea from.

Now you’ve got it! They don’t care about those things as much as they do about the Palestinians or sending a message to the Democrats.

I voted for Harris, but if it hadn’t been for Jan 6, I would have voted for Trump because of these issues.

Competing against biological males in sports is more concerning to you than possibly being denied appropriate medical care during/after a miscarriage? Only one of those two things can kill you and leave any older children of yours without a mother. The number of women who want or need to terminate a pregnancy is far higher than the number of biological female athletes competing against transgender women.

All states, every single one, allow for miscarriage care and abortions when needed in medical emergencies to save the mother, so stop with the misinformation.

Tell me you haven’t read a newspaper in 2 years without telling me.

Tell that to the women who died from sepsis because their unviable fetus still had a heartbeat

Common sense mainly.

Kamala is as unauthentic as a human can be. Trump is a lot of things, but you know who he is.

Democrats plan to skip the Primary process and install her blew up magnificently.

So you voted to kill people with other kinds of cruelty and negligence. You voted to kick people off their health insurance and take food from children. Does the name Khasoggi ring a bell?

War is hell but it’s not the only hell on earth.

Women are being denied this care in a timely fashion in some cases because doctors and hospitals just don’t want the potential liability. Even when the bans makes exceptions for the life of the mother, doctors are scared of someone questioning their medical judgment. In TX they can be sent to prison for 99 years for violating the ban, a punishment far harsher than they would get for simple malpractice, so sometimes they proceed with caution and don’t take action until the mother is in significant distress, and in some of these cases, it’s too late to save a women who could have been saved had treatment started immediately. Women have already dies in this manner. It’s safer for the doctor to let the mother die than to extract the fetus from her body.

Because they watch their parents struggle with 08 and themselves had a shitty college experience due to lockdown and now have trouble finding a good job.

A slight point of history: the Ukraine war began in the Biden presidency as did the Gaza war. Biden led a poorly planned withdrawal from Afghanistan which emboldened terrorist groups around the world. He has done little for refugees in Chad fleeing the war in South Sudan and can't even get a handle on crime in the US, which daily violates human rights.

Who invited the taliban ar Camp David and negotiated the withdrawal?

And don’t make me laugh with your concern for refugees
