This is the free online public charter school. We did it last year and had a good experience, although the curriculum is demanding and it requires a lot of parental involvement depending on the grade.

The parental commitment is too much for a lot of parents. I personally could not imagine keeping my kids home again. Parents and old-enough kids are vaccinated. My kids would be so upset if I told them they couldn't go to school.

It also requires the kids to unenroll from APS, so no sports or clubs with their friends.

Not true about sports. If you live in Arlington, you can be on the teams.

If you are doing Virtual Virginia, you are still part of your school community and can do sports. If you are doing VAVA, it is a charter school that is not part of APS and you can't do sports unless you are an APS student even if you live in Arlington. Those two are different with different treatment within APS.

^^If you are doing the APS virtual academy, then you also obviously can still do sports and other APS activities
