Inflation is off the chain

What kind of place are you eating chicken wings? $14 sounds normal at a restaurant. Or is it a fast casual chain? There is inflation, but it’s actually not as dramatic as you make it seem. I have noticed it more in car sales and building material prices but that’s due to shortages.

Biden's massive spending will trigger inflation for years, so saddle up!

How did you spend $35 at Chipotle OP? Seems pretty hard on a meal for two.

OP, I just paid $20 for a local pasture raised chicken that will make up at least 2 meals a piece and a couple sandwiches for two people. Plus I can make my own broth, for yet a couple more meals.

Stop eating at fast casual chains and cook, if you can.

I mean, I remember when when 0.10 wing nights were common. Now they're sneakily hiding inflation everywhere. Portions are smaller. Happy hours with actual good deals are disappearing. Taco Tuesdays and burger nights where you could get a decent burger for $5 are non-existent. Two friggin sandwiches and two beers are now running us almost $60. This is absolutely getting out of control. That's not even mentioning the sticker shock I'm now seeing at the grocery store. Why do I feel like this is a big problem startng to snowball? I don't ever remember inflation being this bad. It may not be affordable to even go out to eat anywhere at this rate. Hell, last week we also spent almost $35 just for two fountain drinks and two bowls at Chipotle. This doesn't feel transient at all, no matter what the Fed tries to claim. We are getting crushed right now.

Then don't. Its not healthy anyway.

God, shut up. I can guarantee I'm in much better shape than you. The topic is inflation, not your stupid personal perception of what's healthy.

Try making more money.

+1. The gas prices have jumped so much since January.

How are the rich getting richer with restaurant food inflation. People have been crying foul for decades about the income gap. Now that lower wage income is finally rising, you guys are sad about the consequences. This is what it takes. Put your money where your mouth is.

That is solely a supply issue. They laid off a ton of staff, mothballed planes and sold cars; now everyone is traveling at once (all going to Hawaii from my FB feed), and there are shortages. In a year supply chain and staffing will return and prices will stabilize.

Agree. It’s not a result of inflation. It’s a result of restaurants having to pay workers at least $15/hour, being short on staff, and having to pay more for products because all the suppliers are charging more because they’re also short-staffed. People can stay home and get unemployment. Why work at a restaurant? The only way for restaurants to survive is to raise prices.

If they are now paying salary, they should not be taking tips. I'm fine with paying more so staff get a living wage but not if I have to tip on top of it. They also have rent, insurance, and all that too.

Silver linings:

- Your income(s) will adjust to inflation
- Your mortgage will be in 2020 dollars and fixed rates are at record lows

Food is hopefully not your family’s biggest expense.

Why do you assume op's work has enough cash to give COL raises? All the PP's are saying businesses are raising prices bc they're strapped for cash.

Why do you assume op has a mortgage?

Yeah, thank the lord that in 2020 Trump mismanaged the pandemic so badly that gas prices were cheap! /s

Because they’re paying $14 for chicken wings.

We told you to get into the RE market pre-2020. No one’s fault but your own if you didn’t.

Trump's trillion dollar give away was to his rich cronies is the problem - Biden's give away is to working class people.

Way to miss his point.
