ISO of Makeup Help (late 40s, natural look)

I love the BOOM Trio. I use a very light BB then just the BOOM sticks, and a little mascara. I get compliments often, but no one can figure out what it is. I’ve been described as looking sun kissed, dewey, glowing, etc. it’s the BOOM sticks.

Thanks everyone. This is OP. I just bought the BOOM Trio to get me started. But I’ll watch the videos posters suggested and try some of these lines after I have time to do some more research.

I have the same issue as I have aged where I can no longer wear mascara or it runs--it makes my eyes water no water which brand I use, but maybe I'm using the wrong brand (I usually go for Almay or Clinique). has anyone found a way around this or just avoid mascara entirely?
I'm intrigued by Boom sticks--going to give it a try because I honestly have no idea what shade or shades of make-up I need and like that this seems universal.

Anonymous wrote:Check out Hot and Flashy on Youtube. I know the name is off-putting, but she is so practical. I'm early 40s and I use tons of her tips already. I particularly appreciate her tutorials on eye makeup, because I found as my eyes aged and the skin got looser, and crepey, I had no idea how to apply eye makeup. I think I got by when I was younger because when your skin is youthful, you don't need as much technique. But when everything is going to wind up in a fine line, you need to know what you are doing.

She has lots of easy, natural looking tips for handling older skin. I also like her product recommendations.

Not OP, but thanks for this post! I’m 54 and just checked out one of her videos. Love it.

Another good one for older skin is IT cosmetics Cc cream foundation and thier bronzer is amazing for zoom calls and older skin. Also recommend nars concealer and mascara and a good lipstick and you’re done!

I saw a recent video from Andrea Ali where she mentioned the ysl all in one glow tinted moisturizer. I got a sample from sephora. So far so good on my aging combo skin. I also like adding some blush from bobbi brown or Chanel.

My problem is figuring out what shades to use. How are you able to order and the choose the right one ? Feel like I never get a good match. Where to go for that ?

Which items do you have trouble shade matching? A lot of what people are recommending are sheer products where shade is more forgiving, once you know your most flattering family of color (do you need something with blue or orange undertones, for instance). Unless you are doing a true foundation, which I honestly don't think looks best on aging skin most of the time, you are usually choosing between a more limited range of tints.

But if you are still struggling, you can try ordering a sample or trying out shades at Sephora.

In addition to Hot and Flashy I also like Stephanie Marie, for makeup that isn't too overdone and for mature women.
